I have been pining after the 2019 RDX over the last 6 months but had decided to wait to purchase due to the market being so tight in the PNW. I initially contacted 8 dealers and all were asking MSRP in addition to loading the cars up with unnecessary accessories. It was absolutely frustrating but I knew that I could likely wait it out. Unfortunately, over the weekend my current car died and I was no longer in the waiting game. I needed a car this week. I reached out to the same dealers and was again rebuffed with no discount offers. At this point, I consigned myself that I wasn't going to get an RDX as I refused to pay over sticker price for a car. I contacted the Subaru dealer and made an appointment to look at Outbacks, thinking that I may buy one for a couple years and then resell (they hold their value really well in the PNW).
To my surprise, my Acura dealer called me yesterday morning and said "You're not going to believe your luck." It turns out a customer had purchased a silver Tech in July but returned it due to the technology being too confusing and traded it in for a new 2018 RDX. So the dealer asked if I was interested in purchasing a certified pre-owned 2019 Acura RDX with 700 miles, a $3000 discount, and the CPO extended warranty. I gave a fistbump to my office and completed the sale later that day. So now I'm the happy owner of a car I didn't think I was going to get with an extra warranty (5 years, 62K full; 7 years, 100K powertrain). It has been a good day. FYI, final selling price for the silver CPO Tech with SHAWD was $40565 +TTL. Couldn't be happier right now!

Wow! Good for you and congrats!
I am surprised someone returned the car due to tech. This is a bit alarming as the RDX was liked and purchased by all age people. The new RDX might push folks that like simply cars.

And people make mistakes when their percieved wants exceed their actual wants. I picked up, many years ago, an Integra the exact same way. Some lady wanted a hot, lightweight 5 speed Integra to zip around in. Sold the car back to the dealership after a month and got one with an AT because the MT lost its appeal real quick. (For many people at this car level, price is not all that controlling.). I happened to pop in a few days later looking for an MT Integra. They only had this one on the lot. “You’re in luck.” They said, and told me the story. The car had only a couple of hundred miles on it, and I know they got it real cheap. “Not only can we get you a good deal, but it is a current year car, so you can get Acura cut-rate financing, if you take it before December 31.” Which was a week.
A bit back and forth, and I said I’d take it.
Sometimes the stars align.

High Five! And, I can understand how some people might just get totally overwhelmed with this car., It's the first car I ever bought that I had to get used to. Many times I would think I had turned off the car yet it would still be on. The radio staying on after shutdown (until the door is opened) might confuse a lot of people. Lots of other stuff is clearly different.
Still, I LOVE IT!!
Good luck with yours, and your fortune!

Yes, but it was with a "no-haggle" dealership so I had no other options. Just goes to show how different the market can be in different areas of the country. Unfortunately, Seattle has a lot of people with a lot of $$$ who aren't gonna bat an eyelash at paying over MSRP for a car. And I am excited about the CPO warranty also.

No problem understand it is still a rare car, I am still pissed at wife for not waiting a few months and only getting $500 off when hers arrives in the next 10 days. I was thrilled to get $4K off my 19 TLX in June when they still had 18s to move.

At this point, just gotta let it go and enjoy the car. I'm having as much fun as when I drove an Audi S4 in the early 2000s. Just really fun to drive.

1. Unwillingness to actively participate in a scientific experiment of adaptive headlights requiring the use of eclipse glasses.
2. Failure to wait a few months to get a better deal.
OK, just trying to keep score.

Awesome. I wanted to get the 2019 RDX on day one but decided to let the hype go down before I plunk down the cash for a platinum elite. Hopefully your good fortune will come my way.
