Hi all,

I am going to replace my engine air filter this coming weekend. What size screw/bolt is needed to open the air box? It looks like either an 8mm or 10mm, but I can't tell.

Chances are pretty high that you will break the plastic clip, so it is a good idea to have an assortment on hand. I've used my assortment on the RDX, my neighbor's Subaru and her golf cart, and maybe on my VW.

 

I had my 2025 into the shop for the power steering software recall. They 'helped me' by asking if I wanted the engine and cabin filters changed for ~$180. No thanks. Got the two filters at a local shop for ~$40 total and put them in just like this; about 5-10 min.

 

Just keep in mind how many folks will say, “go ahead and do it.”

 

Yup, clips will break, stupid design, but its fine

 

I've changed my filter tons of times, just be gentle with the clip and its fine lol
What broke on mine was one of the screws holding the air filter on, wish it just had metal clips
