Door panel alignment
Door panel alignment
I picked up my RDX today.
While I was inspecting my new RDX today, I noticed something weird with the door alignment between the front and rear doors on both sides. The doors essentially have three sections - top section (sloped around 60 degrees), mid section (the major of the door panel) and bottom section (where the chrome piece is). If I run my hands from the front door to the rear door on the mid section, the seam is smooth and both front door / rear door are aligned. However, if I run the from the rear door to the front door on the top section, the seam isn't smooth at all. There's a noticeable bump -- the front door is elevated compared to the rear door.
I tried this one two different new RDX on the lot and one MDX. All of them seem to have this issue. Anyone else noticed this?

Acura has been getting dinged for poor fit and finish (misaligned panels, uneven gaps, taillights that scratch the paint, etc.) Might just be how it fits together, not worth it trying to get everything perfectly aligned to Acura.
Some of the MDXs had misaligned panels so bad that it looked like they were in an accident and put back together poorly. I think this was especially true when they were making the 2014 MDX in Alabama.

Same here on my 2019 RDX. The hood and fender don’t line up right either. The misalignment extends to the trim piece between the door panel and the window - front and back pieces sit at different heights. Additionally I ran my fingers over the door and hood panels on at least two showroom RDXs and they all have the same problem more or less. Disappointed that Acura can’t get what should be basic quality manufacturing right.
