Demise of AM Radio
Slightly off topic but perhaps related to other infotainment issues discussed here...
I've read a couple articles lately about several of the car makers dropping or planning to drop AM radio in their vehicles. Officially it's because there are issues with interference generated by the motors and other electronics in their electric vehicles that would be expensive and not cost effective to fix, esp given the very low AM listenership these days. There have been objections raised over this and a bill is under consideration in Congress to require vehicles to have AM radios. Some of the objections have merit, I think, but I can't remember the last time I listened to AM radio, in a car or otherwise.
Here's a link to one of the better articles...Demise of AM
Just curious what you all think about it, if anything. Would anybody here miss AM in their cars?

I've never cared for AM but I know people who are into sports that couldn't live without it. Streaming on phone may not be a feasible option because it requires a smartphone and a generous data plan.
Car makers would have no problem putting it there if they could charge $1000 for it just like they do for all the useless annoying tech, which they charge $1000's for, that's built around probably $50 in parts. (I may be exaggerating, but that's the idea.)

First to go 8 track tape
Second to go Cassette tape
Third to go CD player
Now AM...
The humanity!
How much do audio manufactures spend to enable AM in a head unit? Can't be much...so just leave it..Sometimes stuff like sports is only on AM

I've been driving for about 12 years now and I have never ever EVER listened to AM radio unless I accidentally pressed it before immediately switching back to FM. So it is a non-issue for me. I would be more upset if AUX jack was removed which I can absolutely see next.
