Carplay turn by turn display on HUD

I own a 2021 RDX and recently moved to iPhone from Android. I noticed that when I use Carplay I dont see turn by turn directions on the HUD.
I used to see them for android auto. i have tried apple maps, google maps and waze and none of them worked on Carplay.
Has anyone else been able to see them on their RDX?

On my 2020 Advance, the only way I see turn-by-turn directions on the HUD is by way of using the navigation screen. Doesn't work when I'm in CarPlay - at least with my iPhone and it's map software.

The RDX software came out before the second screen navigation was added to CarPlay. So the RDX cannot show CarPlay t-b-t directions in the HUD. And I do not think the hardware that is in the RDX is powerful enough to handle it anyways. There was a hardware and software upgrade for the new 2022 RDX and even that, based on the owners manual I've seen online, cannot do CarPlay t-b-t in the HUD. Acura programmers are STILL working out the software bugs from the initial release of the 19-21 model and I would not expect anything new added to those models, sorry.

Funny thing is Acura doesn't mention it anywhere. I looked in the carplay instructions and the owner’s manual carplay or HUD section and no mention of it.

I can confirm that my 2022 does turn by turn in the HUD using wireless carplay. Can't comment on older model years though, my 21 didn't have a HUD.

Can you please tell if it is RDX or MDX. Also any particular settings you had to change to make it work? I am trying to work on the settings maybe missing something.
I contacted Acura tech support and they were no help. They said we dont know and it is Apple’s problem if it doesnt work and we cannot fix it.

I didn't change any particular settings, just selected carplay as the source using the apps button on the wheel and then used the left scroll wheel to change the HUD to display the speed and turn by turn. I had set up the HUD options in the display section in infotainment before but this was the first time I used it. This was using apple maps. I haven't tried google maps yet but I will do that the next time I remember to try it out.

It is a 2022 RDX Apec advance.

Hello! I hate to burst you guy's bubble, and I know this is a CarPlay thread. But I wanted to debunk the myth about RDX hardware not being able to handle turn by turn via phone. I'm rolling with Android Auto in a 21' advance and Waze, Google Maps and normal Acura maps comes through my HUD.

So, if it's not working for you, it's definitely a CarPlay issue. You can thank apple for that. Lol
