I booked mine last Sunday and it is going into production next week sometime. They were hoping to put my name on one being built already but apparently by the time my deposit reached them, it was no longer available. Expected delivery is within a month from the dealer.

How much time did it take to get built after it went into production?

It took a day.
But I don't think "in transit" really means actually shipped to the dealer. "in transit" = built and ready(out of production line) + Car is on shipping lot at factory + car is in transit to nearest loading dock (train/trailer) + car has actually started journey to the dealer + dealer takes delivery + pre-delivery checklist and preparation by dealer. long list - my imagination.
I asked dealer if there is any stock # /VIN# that I can use to track my car but the response was

Response to my 1st inquiry :
"Your car is out of production and we should get a delivery date anytime now and we will let you know as soon as we do. Our RDX’s are coming at a faster rate now. We will keep you updated with that Acura tells us."

Response to my follow up inquiry:
"I want to let you know there is not access to track your vehicle."

Well, my blue advance awd was supposed to have a build date the last week of September. But Friday afternoon I had a voicemail from dealer saying they do not even see when it is supposed to “land here”. So who know? May even decide to forget about it since I didn’t put down a deposit. I’ve never had to wait this long before!

Dealer will prioritize based on who pays deposit and then they sell remaining cars to rest.

They only asked for a $500 deposit and it's fully refundable if I should change my mind.

Change mind might cost 500 for my dealer. But refundable if there is any issue with car and I don't want to take it.

Nope, not with my dealership. None of their customers are under any obligation to buy the car if they put down a deposit.

It's for a future allocation -- they are getting the car anyway, regardless. They're just putting your name against a car that's already coming; a reservation, if you will. I think in our case anybody who thinks they're "special ordering" a car is under a false impression. You special order a Tesla, not an Acura RDX.

If you change your mind about buying the car, after all -- NEXT (customer).

So... I was anticipating my car to arrive at the dealership this Thursday (October 18th). Now told that since that specific car has been delayed a couple of times, they located another one (same everything) that's being delivered to a nearby dealership this week that they will get for me instead. That's not terribly unusual, is it?

They provided a VIN. What can you do with that VIN? Can you get the Window sticker info using the VIN on some website? When I google the VIN, I just get something very generic.

It's similar what happened to me--thought the dealership was 300 miles away and it became yet another delay. The car wasn't at the other dealer yet but they agreed on a swap once it arrived. Having the VIN allows you to order the Owner's Manual and other booklets so that's a good thing. It can take up to 6 weeks they say. mine came sooner so I had all the booklets before the car so I could start studying. Good luck with it all.

Thanks - I appreciate it. BTW, where do you go with the VIN to order the manuals and booklets?

You don't need VIN# to order Owner's manual/other docs. Here is the link to order printed copies of documents
Acura On-line Bookstore: Product Search Engine

In case you want to save some $$ and download soft copies.. here is the link

But with the VIN you get free hard copies—no cost. I previously downloaded copies but with the hard copy that’s much handier for me to use so I never use the electronic format now.

Got the “great news” email this afternoon! My car will be in tomorrow, and then after PDI and accessories installation, It’ll be ready for delivery in the evening or on Saturday.

Won’t be able to get to the dealership until Monday morning, so it’ll be pretty crazy for me this weekend, with all the anticipation.

Woo Hoo! You are the most patient car enthusiast I know. I don't think I could have lasted as long as you did. Great job and good luck!

Thank you!

The accessories I'm getting from the dealership are Splash Guards, Wheel Locks, Cargo Protector, Rear Bumper Applique, Door Edge Guards, Door Handle Film, Welcome Light, and Remote Starter System. Maybe I'll share the prices later after they apply the 15% Costco discount.

The rest I'm getting elsewhere online because they're cheaper and don't require complicated installation (all-weather mats, cargo protector, cargo tray, cargo net, and cargo cover).

Mine is out of production and acura has given estimated delivery date to dealer in first week of Nov. Woo hoo. I got the vin number and registered the car on owners.acura.com

I was looking for free printed onwers manual and the only option I could find was the paid one. Has anyone ordered the primted one for free? If yes please share the steps to reach the option on the site.

Picked her up today...

Have class tonight on the way home, though, so pit-stopping for that and won’t be having any bonding time with her until later. Ha!

The drive south from the dealership was fantastic. Looking forward to learning and using everything.

I got remote engine start, cargo protector, welcome lights, door edge protectors, door handle film, rear bumper appliqué, and wheel locks from the dealership.

Ordered from Curry Acura (eBay), coming Friday: all-weather mats, cargo cover, cargo tray, and cargo net.

How am I supposed to pay attention to anything at all at class tonight, someone tell me?

Looks great. You're parked kinda close the the car on the passenger side.

You got it at Chevy Chase right? If so who were you dealing with? Just curious.

Not an option. First day of class. Plus grad school courses don’t play with missing class more than 1 or 2 times so you save that for fleeing a hurricane or something. 😝

Thanks, y’all. Thrilled with my RDX so far! Love the infotainment system and TTI. Got the hang of it pretty much right away.

Received my remaining accessories today from Curry Acura eBay store — two days early! Installed everything except the cargo cover because I think you need a special tool to remove the two plugs on each side to insert each end of the cover. Might have to ask the dealership to take them out. If any ideas out there short of that, please share. Thanks!

What is this 15% Costco discount you speak of?

As explained in the information I received from the Costco Auto Program:

Parts, Service and Accessories Discount
Every Costco member receives 15% off parts, service and accessories at participating service centers on any vehicle in your household -- even if you've never purchased through the program.*

*15% discount only applies to work done at participating service centers, not Costco Tire Centers. It cannot be used toward the purchase of air bags, oil changes, tires, state-mandated vehicle inspections or be combined with other promotions or offers. Not applicable to 1) prior services, parts or work; 2) items covered by a vehicle's warranty or insurance policy; 3) or at the time of vehicle purchase or lease. Not all Costco Auto Program dealerships currently participate in this benefit. Maximum savings per coupon: $500. Costco member must pay sales tax and tax is charged on the purchase amount prior to discount where required.

[My dealership's service department is a participating service center; the 15% discount is on top of the discounted pricing I received through the Costco Auto Program to buy my RDX]

Very cool! I'm a fairly new Costco member and have yet to use their automotive services. This will be nice to have once my RDX arrives. Any time now.......
