Bought 2020 A-Spec, has it been repaired by the dealer??

I bought two new Acura’s 2 weeks ago, 2020 RDX Aspec and ILX . Both were delivered to my home because of the virus and stay at home orders in California. Both were delivered extremely dirty (with bird shit, too) late in the day at sunset, and during the paperwork signing process I walked around the RDX and noticed the black plastic window frame trim was actually broken/popped out of the door and not installed correctly. The sales agent used her hands to push it back in. She asked me to come to the dealer to have the car cleaned the next morning.

Next morning, I notice many white specks of what appear to be paint on the rear driver side roof and door. I show up at the dealer, sales agent says the service department noticed the white specks and told me it was “overspray” from the shipping truck. She says service will detail the car, I get it back about 2 hours later and it been mostly in my garage ever since, I’ve barely driven it and it has 155 miles right now two weeks after sale.

Since having the car, I’ve noticed that several white specks of paint are still on the roof, as well as within the driver side rubber door seals, door hinges, various spots on the door jams, and also the rear interior door inside the car’s passenger area. I’ve also noticed faded and oxidized black trim on the lower front and rear bumper, a dent on the passenger rear quarter panel where it meets the rear bumper, and large fairly deep series of scratches on the tailgate, Finally, the inside barrel of all the wheels are oxidized or discolored in some way and to various degree.

I’ve asked the sales agent through text if the car has been repaired or previously damaged and sent her some pictures. She says no, she doesn’t know what the white specks are but the car has never been repaired and it must have been delivered that way from Acura. I said I would contact Acura customer service and I’m waiting on a call back as of today. I’m sure they’ll simply tell me to go back to the dealership to have it all “taken care of’. I’ve bought several new cars from Honda in my life and never have seen a car delivered with these types issues. It looks like it’s been repaired in some way, it was delivered to me in poor condition, and I’ve also been to the service department after delivery for them to clean it. The detailer used an aggressive polishing compound to remove most of the exterior white specks and the blacked out rear window pillar is deeply clear coat scratched from his polisher.

I’ll attach some pictures. Anyone know what my rights might be? Anyone think the car has been repaired? P.S. The ILX was delivered with some type of other paint contaminant on the passenger roof and front door, looked like tree sap. Dealer used a polisher on that too and left scratches on the roof. I’ve noticed no other issues with that car.

Those white specs are polish residue. It's been polished to correct paint imperfections or an area was repainted and then polished to correct the repainted area. So far the service (or lack there of) provided by your dealer does not bode well.
It's not uncommon for vehicles to arrive with freight damage and then be repaired by the dealership unbeknownst to the customer. Typically they do a good job of making the repair imperceptible to the average buyer. Unfortunately not in your case.

It must have been repainted because the dried polish is inside on the door jams, hinges, and rubber seals. Looks like they polished with the car disassembled, after they repaired whatever damage happened.

Or the 18 year old high school dropout they hired at $5 an hour to "detail the car " was just sloppy. Find a body shop or a detailer and ask them. Your dealer is useless.

Yeah, it legitimately could be detailing residue. I had some "wax" in a door jam on mine. Did you smell a lacquer-like odor? I've never had a car with paint repairs that didn't smell like paint solvent until fully cured.

You should directly ask them over email. I doubt they would deny it in written response if it was true.

some of those are definitely wax residue, others im not sure about as its hard to determine from your pictures...

why did you buy the vehicles before examining them closely?

When the car arrives at your home do not just sign the papers and hand over the cheque. Complete a full inspection no matter how long it takes.
I would talk to the owner principal in addition to Acura CS.

In 1985 I bought my first 'new' car, a silver Toyota MR2. A pretty cool car back then. At the time I was working for Goodyear (in one of the stores) I was showing the car off to some of the guys. Had the rear hood open and one of them said...'what is that, it looks like overspray'. Sure enough there was silver paint on some of the parts that had no reason having paint on them, unless of course the was some repainting done. We also found a spot on the hood lid that appeared to be a touch up job. I asked the dealer at the time, and of course, they 'had no record of damage'....My guess was it was something that happened in transport....

So I feel your pain. A repaint is never as good as factory paint. Best of luck

Did the car come with some 'paint protection plan' add on. That should wipe off pretty easily.
