On Board WiFi?
On Board WiFi?
Anyone use the on board wifi? I had a mobile hotspot that was stolen out of my car, and just realized I probably don’t need to replace it. I’m not a fan of the pricing but for the convenience it might be worth it at least for the summer months.
I tried to sign up for it within the timeframe and was unable to.
I also realize I have no need for it. It is just me and my wife and we both have cellphones, so we don’t need the car to have its own cellphone and pay for even more data. We don’t use what we have now.
We are on Verizon, so maybe if we used ATT it might be different.

I have a kid so being able to connect his iPad would be nice but I guess I can always use my phone as a hotspot. Problem is that during the summer months when we drove around more we tend to stream music which puts pressure on both bandwidth and data limits.
I had the 90 days free ATT hot spot thing when I got the car and could never make it work right...and I tried! After hours of emails, on-line searches and phone calls I gave up. Then ATT wanted me to start paying like $30 a month for it after the first 90 days...really! And it never worked! Then I realized I could just have the car connect through my Verizon Samsung S10, so it became the hot spot. Since I have unlimited data it didn't matter or cost. The only reason we even did this was so my wife could use her tablet computer on-line while we were traveling. If it were just our phones we didn't need it at all. Why pay for something if you don't use it and especially since it didn't actually work?
I have found the AT&T network to be very spotty, especially in more remote areas. AcuraLink uses that network, and any access to "cloud" data for the navigation system, OTA updates, etc is dependent on that service, not just the in-car WiFi.
