Autostop Eliminator

Like many of you I'm not a fan of the Autostop function on our vehicles and I would like to disable it once and leave it off. A recently purchased a 2020 Ford F150 with the same Autostop function. Well, there's a company ( https://www.autostopeliminator.com/) that makes an Autostop eliminator for certain makes and models. The one for the F150 is great, push the button and it remains off even after a restart of the vehicle. You can even push the button and enable if you so desire.

Anyway, I inquired about one for the RDX and I received and email telling that they could make one for the RDX but would need someone's vehicle for development. They are located in Fairmont, WV, anyone on this forum from there that would be willing to contact Travis Lambort at TRL Automotive and see if they can arrange to let them use your RDX to develop an eliminator for the RDX?

RDX owners would be eternally grateful.

the RDX requirements are well documented on this site. It is also probably the same for most vehicles.

There is already a solution for the auto idle stop problem. I had the idlestopper installed and now it turns the idle stop system off at startup. I can still use if I wish by pushing the idle stop switch back on, it just defaults the system to off which is the way it should have been from the factory. http://www.idlestopper.com

here is a link to a review by another member who installed the idlestopper on his TLX

Hm, very cool. But, does anyone have a write up of how to remove the center dash to get behind there where the Stop/Start button is?

yes.

But looking at it, as soon as you remove the gauges, you have access to the idle line, since it goes from the switch to the gauge cluster. So you really dont have to dig into the center console. I posted a pic relative to the gauges.

Just a fyi, when you push the idle off/on, it delivers a pulse on the line to tell the gauge that it wants to change modes. Thats how the idle-stoppers work. The circuit simply sends a pulse on the line 5-6 seconds after power up, and presto!

Just to clarify, the switch does not 'make a pulse', the leading edge of the voltage being drawn down by the switch being grounded is 'the pulse'.

The installation instructions are on the idlestopper website. Just go to the navigation menu at the top click installation and select rdx. There’s a video of the install on YouTube as well.

I just have one question...do you guys find it hard to put on your seat belts also? Be glad that the government (EPA) permits the manufacturers to provide a switch that allows you to disable AIS. Who remembers these?

A big difference is safety. Ais has nothing to do with safety. It just shows that gasoline engines mpg and technology have hit the wall if all they have left is to turn it on and off and increase costs.

I guess my point is, how hard is it to push the stupid button? Easier than putting on a seat belt. BUT, I totally understand. I HATE cars that auto lock the doors when you hit 15 MPH, or whatever speed, or when you put it in Drive, etc...and would look for ANY way to change that if it wasn't a manufacturer settings option. I get it, it is the principal. So carry on!

Are you talking about the RDX? There is an option as to when you want the doors to autolock, if at all, in the settings menu. Or are you referring to another car, likely American, that doesn't allow you to change the setting(s)?

Auto-lock is programmable on my 9 year old Mustang as well as on my Lincoln. Its not an Asian car exclusive thing.

I was just making a point, that I can understand the "distaste" of a "feature" that manufacturers include in cars. I was NOT referencing the door lock features in the RDX. Simply comparing my distaste for that feature (doors that lock by themselves that I have seen on some rental cars in the past) with the folks that distaste not being able to permanently disable the AIS.
