Any 2022 Infotainment Issues
Just wondering if those with a 2022 RDX are having any issues so far with the Infotainment system. Particularly interested in those that connect and use Apple CarPlay exclusively.

No big issues so far, my phone automatically connects as soon as I turn the car on every time. I ran into the Waze bug(?) with Spotify where the music volume would not go louder or quieter, so I went into Sirius Radio and back into Waze and the volume worked again. For me, it might take like 10 seconds to have Apple car play full load while the infotainment is booting up, so if you try and jump into Sirius radio as soon as the car starts, it will automatically take you back into Apple CarPlay. So just wait until the screen takes you into Apple CarPlay before jumping around. I have had 0 disconnects so far, driven about 10-15 times. I also took my first call the other day while connected and it went through flawlessly.

There is a way to compare hardware components and see if anything is new.

Nice, so basically the same as MDX infotainment unit. Running Oreo would open up many opportunities for sideloading...

Only have about 250 miles on mine but so far it connects to wireless carplay every time and I've had no issues. Based on other vehicles I've had wireless carplay in, I would say the load times are on par with the norm for that type of connection.
I do have one thing I would call out that is lacking and that is the ability to adjust what is on each portion of the screen. For example, when I'm backing out of my garage, with the surround view camera option, the normal rear view camera takes up only like 40% of the screen on the left hand side, and the surround view takes up another 30% towards the middle. The "extra" 30% portion of the screen on the right is essentially unused as it just shows a big camera icon. I don't understand why I can't move the surround view over to the all the way on the right side of the screen and have the rear view camera take up the majority of the screen like it would if I didn't have the surround view cam. I know other cars can customize this, so I don't know why it is not an option. I'm going to submit this feedback to Acura and hopefully they can incorporate that in a future software update.

I have read on MDXers.org that turn-by-turn directions show up in the HUD when using Apple Maps in the '22 MDX. Since the '22 RDX shares some of the hardware & software with the MDX, is this now the case with the RDX too?
#14
Yep, I just tried this out and can confirm that the turn by turn directions do show up in the HUD on the '22 RDX using wireless carplay.

Only a week, but so far no issues at all. Using wired and wireless Carplay. BTW wireless Carplay is awesome, takes about 3 seconds to connect and it's rock solid.

What's weird on my Carplay in a 2022 is that Waze turn by turn doesn't show up in my HUD, it did show up on my 2019. I'm curious if this is just me, would love to see others try. Was bummed about this, so hoping it's maybe just Waze that needs to update, if Apple maps shows up then I have a small hope.

In the morning, start car and put reverse immediately after starting to back out. See if it still connects. I think it should work fine because it uses blue tooth, not USB like 19-21

My wife and I have two iPhones paired for CarPlay and if we get into the car, it appears to pair to the iPhone with which it was last connected (usually my wife's). When I get into the car by myself, it takes longer to pair to this (new) phone, but no biggie. Sometimes I'll need to select Apple CarPlay in the Acura main menu.

About 220 miles on my 22 RDX so far, taking a ride today that will double my mileage, but so far, everything works fine. And I am the type of guy that if it will happen, it will happen to me.

I had my screen light up when the car is off and I entered only on the passenger side. Nothing on the screen at all, just glowing. I had to turn the car on acc and back off for it to go off. Didn’t wait long to see if it would go off, but it was strange. Happened a few times during my week or so of ownership.

I can echo what others have said. The infotainment system in my '22 A-spec has been flawless so far in terms of connecting to Apple CarPlay every time (iPhone 13, FYI). It's a real treat compared to my traded-in '20 RDX/Tech. No cables, faster boot-up, quick connection, and navigation from Apple Maps shows up in the navigation view. I'm pleasantly surprise and very pleased.

Me too. 300+ miles and no issues whatsoever. It's played every USB stick I have put in there (all 5.1 flacs) and when I've used CarPlay it's worked fine, Waze and the phone

I did have one problem, JUST ONE TIME. I stopped by BJs to grocery shop, and then when I hopped back in the car. It seems like Spotify was still playing on my phone, but for some reason I couldn't hear anything on the car even though connected. I forget if I tried to switch over to the radio to test, but, that was a weird one-off situation.

Most everything I have I've converted from SACD, DVD-Audio or BluRay audio discs, as well as old quad stuff. It's a lot of work but the results make it worth it for most stuff.
There are threads here and in the upper sections that go over the details of doing this, step by step. There are also posts with links to some files if they're still there in those threads

Was driving my ‘22 RDX tech today. Suddenly radio went dead (no sound) for a few minutes. Both XM and FM. My wife’s car mainly. She said it happens occasionally. I may have dealer look into it if it persists. Anyone else have this issue in their RDX?

Odd, and I too couldn't get the glowing screen to turn off until I cycled on and off the acc startup. Doesn’t happen every time.
Unsure if the screen would ever turn off if it went unnoticed.

I just picked up my 2022 RDX Advanced A-Spec over the weekend. I managed to snag exactly what I wanted by finding one in transit to a dealer less than 100 miles away that wasn’t already sold.
While using wireless CarPlay today I noticed that I’m not getting any audible alerts from CarPlay when I receive a new text message. All I get is the momentary banner across the CarPlay screen showing the text message sender and the Message app icon shows the small red indicator with the number of new text messages. Our other cars that use CarPlay have the audible sound indicating a new text message has been received. I’ve gone thru all the settings and I can’t see where this feature can be turned on or off. All the other CarPlay/Siri notifications work as expected. I tried both wired and wireless CarPlay and there is no difference.
I’m hoping one of you can tell me what I’m missing here or if you’re experience is the same as mine.
Thanks!

New 2022 Advance. No issues but I use a USB stick with 5.1 surround sound songs on it and do not want CarPlay to auto connect. I turned it off on the iPhone and just plays it in when needed.
BTW, 5.1 surround sound is amazing but a real pain to find and concert music for it,

Ugh, I'm going to have to own up to this one. Turns out somehow I had flipped the switch to put my iPhone into silent mode. Once I discovered what had happened, CarPlay works as I expected. Really liking wireless CarPlay and the wireless charging.
