2022 Remote Start

Did Acura fix the remote start so when u remote start the vehicle then unlock the doors that the RDX stay running or does it still turn off the vehicle making you restart once you get in? Also I wish you could exit, leave the engine running and lock the doors.

I have a '21, the remote start is fantastic on the RDX in winter. The heated seats come on; the heated steering wheels comes on; the heater blows air in the windshield on high. When you get in and with the foot on the brake, press start and all that shuts off but the engine keeps running.

Thinking back to when I had my 2016 RDX, I recall several times that I got in the vehicle, put my foot on the brake, and tried to shift into reverse and the engine turned off. I kept having to remind myself that even though the vehicle was running, I had to press the start button with my foot on the brake before trying to shift into reverse. (I traded in that 2016 for another make 2 years ago that doesn’t have remote start, so along with some other issues, I’m going back to an RDX and have one on order. Can’t wait but I don’t have a build date yet. I ordered in November)

Thanks for the info. I am working with a dealer online right now for a 2022 ASPEC-Advance-Shawd / Lunar Silver Metallic.

Today I received a build date of Feb 5-9. I ordered it the first of November, but not sure how long it took dealer to send it in. I ordered a 2022 RDX Advance awd, platinum white pearl exterior, ebony interior - can’t wait!

I don't have remote start installed but the AcuraLink remote start works the same way.

Does it make a difference if you unlock the RDX while it is running (via remote start) with the fob or if you unlock it at the door handle? I have to test more but I think if you use the handle, the engine shuts off. Can someone confirm?

I won’t be picking up my new RDX for a few days but I recall on my 2016 RDX when using remote start I tried to move from park to reverse forgetting that I had to first have my foot on brake and then push the start button. Didn’t seem right to have to push start when it was running but that is what was needed. I doubt if it would depend upon starting with key fob or app but I will have to wait to try.

No, the engine does not shut off. It continues to run even after you get in. Then, you still have to depress the brake and press the Start button before you can get underway. You can't put the car in drive until you press the Start button with the fob present. Also, the seat adjusts, the infotainement boots up and the MID comes on.

That confirms what I thought. Since I’m trading in a vehicle without remote start, I wonder how many times I will forget to put my foot on the brake and push the start button before trying to put gear selector in reverse. Hopefully I will remember but I’m sure sometimes I will forget. But no big deal - my RDX will still be warmed up or cooled down depending on season.

You won't forget; it's pretty obvious when you get in the car. The infotainment screen is blank, there's no audio and the MID only displays a notification to press the Start button.
