2019 RDX - Leather Protection Cream/Treatment
I am bit worried about leather longevity with kids/heavy use. Anyone out there used leather preventive care/treatment etc ?

jokes aside; there is nothing that prevents wear from kids.
there are products that help preserve the seats from harmful UV rays. and there are cleaners. as your skin produces oil and rubs off onto the seats, cleaners will pick up this nasty daily 'wear'...
but wear from kids? better put down a layer of plastic like my grandma used to do in her house.
OOoOOo that gives me an idea, you can buy seat protectors!!!!!!!!!!

Even if the kids mess up the leather seats in the RDX, consider yourself blessed that you have both kids and an RDX at the same time.
Take it from an old codger.
If the kids are old enough to have known better, have them put in the elbow grease needed to clean up as much as possible. Give them the ‘dad look’ while they work.
If the kids are so young as to not be responsible, blame yourself for failure to protect, and take your lumps and do better next time.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the leather in most cars is basically leather coated in plastic with the exception of aniline, semi aniline, napa and full leathers. Therefore leather conditioner and protection products don't really do anything. Your best bet is to buy some seat covers for the back seats and buy those front seat-back protectors that you hang on the headrest and they basically protext the back of the seat from the legs of those little demons...erm I mean children.

It’s my understanding as well that most modern leather seating surfaces are basicallly sealed by a plastic-like layer and conditioners are not really doing anything because they can’t soak in. It’s not the same as leatherette, which is just a fancy name for nice vinyl seats.

Yes most leathers in cars are coated in a almost plastic-like layer so conditioners and protection products never actually reach the leather.
No no I mean the actual leather is coated in plastic-like stuff. Only in more high end cars is the leather actually exposed and thus conditioners and protectant products do reach the leather. Leatherette is a whole other thing.
This, exactly.

My 2014 Altima SL has that type of leather, and I use a spray cleaner/conditioner occasionally to spruce. However, I have used a good quality Leather cleaner/conditioner cream on my 2015 and 2016 TLXs with Milano leather, with good effect.
