Some of the changes are revised start stop system and transmission software plus adaptive dampers avail on Advance?
Hopefully this will lead to 2018 MDXs being sold at a discount which may help 2019 RDX prices. I still want the 2019 RDX advance

Also, it seems a base FWD MDX comes in between the A-spec and advance trims of the RDX in terms of price. That's a lot of content you've giving up for that 3rd row - I don't see a lot of cross-shopping between the two models.
I was against the 4 cylinder until I drove the 2019 RDX. I can honestly say that the 4 cylinder is not an issue and this RDX perfroms much better than the V6 ever did.Once you drive it you will know right away.
I traded in a 2017 MDX for my 2019 RDX. I really liked the MDX. It was roomy, quiet, smooth and overall very nice to drive. The MDX has the smooth V6, but its hampered by the slow shifting ZF9 and dated tech compared to the RDX. The RDX is much nicer in my opinion and Im enjoying it thoroughly.
I was given an MDX as a loaner when I brought my ‘17 RDX in for something. Man, oh, man - what a great driving car. For its heft (compared to the RDX), it was nimble, quick, and responsive — really enjoyable to drive. I was highly, highly impressed.
The only issues for me are the size of my garage and the price. I would want the Advance and I just choose not to pay what they want for one of them. The ‘19 RDX is in that sweet spot that combines features and value for the money plus basically the perfect size for my needs and lifestyle.
I do love the MDX, though.

I don’t know how much this impacts RDX as these are different class of SUVs. What I find interesting is with the intro of an ASPEC MDX it sound like current gen is here until a 21 MY since I would find it hard to think they would do a new trim for 1 model year. I think this sets stage for TLX next major change probably by this time next year maybe then followed by MDX released early in 20 as a 21.

Damn, was hoping for a 4G MDX next year to give me another option to consider. I don't plan on waiting until 2020 to buy so it looks like I'll have to choose between a modern new cockpit with less room or a dated cockpit with more room. Probably going RDX then.
I see they are adding the "premium" colors to the line up for 2019 same as the RDX. New wheels look good to me as well. Still scratching my head at how they screwed up the RDX Advance wheels so bad.
Here are all the specs, features and packages to look through.

Not too surprised considering the 2G MDX was also in production for 7 years (2007-2013). Given the 3G MDX is still selling strong, I can see Acura also trying to do another 7-year model year run. It's an important model for MDX. So it gives them a bit more time to nail it again.
Having said that, I feel like the RDX and MDX target different people. For me, the MDX interior looks too dated compared to the new RDX's interior. I also don't need the extra space in the MDX. The new RDX also feels more luxurious IMO.

all the goodies you need....2nd row Captain's seats in the Advance....rear entertainment system optional....it's just a great SUV. The 2020 I'm sure will have the all new cockpit and other exterior design changes, etc.
I most likely will get a '19 MDX Advance next Spring. They are worth the money. Maybe if my overall needs and timing were different..next Spring...I'd wait for the 2020. But, the last year of a long model run is not a bad thing.
They are usually the best ones of the whole run. The updated, new version can come in, oh...2021 or 2022. Who knows? I don't! LOL!

About this time last year I was seriously considering the Hybrid MDX but the only ones available then (an possibly now) were the Advance trim. Per my dealer the Tech trim MDX hybrids are probably the rarest things on earth.
