Yeah, that black beak looks AWESOME! DAYAM! Sweet job. If I end up keeping my 2018 RDX Advance (waiting to see what the 2019 turns out to be), I might do the same thing. Would love to have any advice on how to do it super nice.
BTW, I've put about 2500 miles on my 18 RDX. Finally was able to take it on a road trip and for the very first time - after listening to Sirius XM since I bought it - I played an audio CD and WOWOWOWOWOW. GREAT stereo system. Would expect nothing less from Elliot Scheiner, the world famous, Grammy winning recording engineer, who oversees the sound systems in Acura's. Just an awesome sound.

Agreed, but I won't hold my breath. I am betting slightly more power (if any at all) than the new top level Accord's 252hp & 273 ft/lbs. I will be surprised if they have even the same as the current cars 279hp. Acura will play up the increase in torque over the 3.5l.

they do it for Civic type-R for 2.0L.... but RDX will be heavier and have AWD, it will be tough to get 300hp... 280hp would be nice too.

People, its a daily driver; a grocery picker upper. If you want performance, buy a Porsche GT2.

Indeed. Grocery-getter and kid-shlepper. It will have plenty of HP/TQ in whatever configuration comes out. RDX buyers are looking for easy, quiet comfort, not a variety of German-like options. Just look at how the trim levels are packaged.

Well if the 3rd gen RDX comes with a four-cylinder turbo, I would not want it. Just as I did not go for the Porsche Macan, BMW X3 and Lexus NX200 for that reason.
Its why I bought a 2nd gen RDX. I think the 3rd gen will go to a turbo like so many manufacturers are now doing. Time to buy shares in turbo manufacturing companies. lol

its pretty much confirmed that v4 turbo is coming. Whats not confirmed is horse power and if v6 will be available as an option

I assume they aren't allowing room for a V6, but they could achieve similar results with a Sport Hybrid option. (if they don't de-tune the 4-cylinder, that is.) 325+ HP would be no problem. Throw in the MDX SH's 7-speed DCT and adaptable suspension, and the result would be lots of power, fast shifts, torque-vectoring across the rear axle, and the ability to switch between comfort and handling as needed. And it wouldn't cost $10k. Maybe not even half that.

I'm not suggesting they should. But overlapping with the base MDX wouldn't be a problem. The MDX Sport Hybrid is only a $1,500 adder. Even adding twice that for a Sport Hybrid RDX will still keep it well below the high performance German models.

V4? I have not seen many V4 engines in cars. Maybe an I4.
Anyway, glad I bought my 2017 RDX. It was the primary reason to snap one up before the next gen comes out which I thought would be 2018 based on the five year run already. Turbos...another thing to fail and $replace$ if you keep a car as long as I do.

I Have 2008 rdx with 160k miles, no turbo issues. Turbo been solid, ofcourse they can screw it up any time they design something new

They won't. It will have the new 10-sp auto as in the 2.0T Accord. The only problem is it will have the push button controls too...
No way I see them doing a sport hybrid version. Anything is possible of course. Highly doubt they offer a V6 as they wouldn't likely offer the 290hp MDX motor in the RDX(it would probably be the 280hp version) and this is barely above the 2.0T even in Accord spec anyway. Torque would be less as well

The new 10AT might be a good thing with the 2.0L turbo since the extra gearing can keep the TQ within the meaty part of the powerband like a CVT. We both know how it can suck with our 5AT in the 1st Gen RDXs and being stuck in the wrong gear and the trans refuses to downshift (have to hit the paddles or go into sport mode). I wouldn't be surprised if power for the 3rd Gen would be around the same at the Accord at 252hp/273tq. It might have decent acceleration in the mid to upper 6's with the 10AT and if Acura can keep the curb weight the same or less as the current model.
I'm leaning hard towards the 3rd Gen RDX with the 2.0L turbo+10AT+sh-awd are in the mix. Not having sh-awd is my show stopper no matter how much other tech they introduce (rather have a used 15-17 sh-awd tech/adv MDX for around the same price).

There are four lights!
I missing having a hatch and elevated seating position, so when the lease is done on my TLX, I'll have a hard look at the 3G RDX ONLY if it has SH-AWD. A Sport Hybrid option would be icing on the cake. Make it so, Acura.

Acura is really good at keeping new vehicles under wraps until an Auto Show or big on-line press event. Not sure why Acura wants to hype the 3rd Gen RDX; which, will be around 70%-80% the same as a CR-V?
#310
True, but the 20% should be huge. Different transmission, stronger engine, and SH-AWD. Hoping for a home run...finally.

To add to quantum7's list:
- Adaptive suspension
- HUD
- Higher quality materials
- Sport Hybrid
- 360 cameras
- Park sensors
Seeing that the new CRV has new and nice things like the pano moonroof, those items better make it into the 3G RDX. Obviously designers and engineers have to work within the confines of what the bean counters dictate, but armchair engineering is always fun!

I see most of the car companies are revealing their 2018/2019 models in the past few days due to LA Auto Show which is in less than 24 hours. But yet Acura did not show any sign of showing the new RDX. What's Acura's plan? Wait until summer 2018?? c'mon!
Lexus RX350 L will have a huge impact on MDX already....at least Acura needs to catch up with RDX. Right? lol

The CRV in Canada has a pano roof? I was not aware of this as no Honda Acura's have had pano roofs that I am aware of. I guess this could be a reason to buy the RDX over the CRV(if they don't add the feature to the CRV this year that is). The pano roof should have been implemented in the last gen cars IMHO. I find it amazing the new CRV has FULL LED lights(even more than the RDX has right now). Not much left to make the RDX better other than the 2.0T motor I am sure it will have. They are putting all the good stuff into the Honda's making the Acura versions less enticing.

The down low torque is what you really want. For daily driving purposes, that peak torque at very low RPM is much more useful than the peak horsepower at the top of the RPM range.
If they do drop the 2.0T into the RDX, as mentioned, it likely for sure will have less horsepower. This is ultra conservative Honda we are talking about.

I’m on my 5th ACURA now since summer 1993. I keep coming back because it’s basically a fancy HONDA with ultra reliability. Yeah, I had a few small issues over the years but was all covered under warrantee. Nothing major.
I had the 1st gen RDX with the 2.3 liter turbo. It was a blast to drive but the car got kind of dated. Now I have the 2016 RDX Advance. Really nice car and love the healthy 3.5 liter V6.

Acura better get the RDX right ... the QX50 is going to be trouble even if Acura gives us everything we're hoping for. There's also the new X3, mostly improved Q5. Even the Lincoln Nautilus and MKC are bigger threats.
