THANK YOU for posting this.
I've been to two dealers and mentioned this issue. The first dealer said they were "unaware" of any problems and overall seemed clueless, so I didn't want to leave my MDX with them. The second dealer seemed more on the level and acknowledged that they had seen the problem, but all they could do was replace the nav unit and it may or may not fix the problem... I didn't want them tearing into my dash and causing rattles -- especially if the problem would persist.
At least now I know that Acura is acknowledging the problem and working towards a fix (hopefully a software update -- but we'll see). I also am glad they say to NOT replace the unit, at this time. I hate throwing parts at a problem without knowing the true cause. I'm also thankful to learn that a simple 15 second wait will hopefully mitigate the problem. It's been frustrating trying to program a destination and then discovering that the vehicle seems to have no clue where I am.

For those of you not seeing the PDF, here is the contents
December 2017 BTS171201 Version 1 Navigation Shows the Wrong Location
AFFECTED VEHICLES 2017 MDX with Navigation
We’re currently looking at an issue where the navigation icon wanders or shows up in the wrong location. It happens when the vehicle is started after it’s been sitting for more than 4 hours, and is put into gear within 15 seconds.
If you get a vehicle in your shop for this, be aware there’s nothing you can do about it at this time. So, don’t try replacing any parts; it won’t make a difference.
For now, we’re asking the service consultant to have their client wait 15 seconds before putting the vehicle into gear if the vehicle has been sitting for more than 4 hours. We’ll let you know once we have a fix for it.
