These out the door prices don't mean much too many variables. What percent did you guys get off MSRP on the vehicle?

Pitbull11 04-07-2014 06:47 PM

You guys know that quoting out the door pricing does no one any good for determining "a good deal" to many variables. Quote your MSRP and what % you got off that price!!! Once you add trades, and dealer add on's, taxes, etc. it becomes location and deal specific. So the real question is what was your vehicle, what was the MSRP and what % did you get off that MSRP before your trade! dealer add on's! taxes! etched.

I am in middle on negotiating a BASE MDX here in Atlanta and the best price I received has been $40,500. On top of that there is a $599 "dealer fee" plus tags, and taxes. I hope this helps....

hrothgar02 04-09-2014 04:22 PM

Base MDX in Houston $40,000 (no additional dealer fees).

Thanks guys those last two posts were very helpful!!

I would love to do a little better, but as you know when you are trying to trade a car, then you are negotiating two sides of the transaction. The benefit of trading the car is getting a tax "credit" for that portion of the transaction which helps with the overall number.

I have yet to find a luxury dealer that does not charge a "dealer fee". This used to range in the $399 to $699. I guess this is where they make their money.

2014 Tech/Ent

Fog Lights LED
Roof Rails
Crossbars
Towing package 5000lbs inc hitch/wiring harness/atf cooler
Moonroof Visor
Cargo Cover
Protection Package 1
Body Side Molding
Door Edge Film
Rear Bumper Applique
Splash Guards
Heated Steering Wheel

$52125 cash price no trade

I had a cash buyer for my 2006 MDX and the dealer did a "courtesy" trade where they applied my sale price $16250 to the deal. They "traded" the car in and "sold" it to the new owner in a 5 second transaction. That saved me 6% Pa sales tax on the $16250 portion of the $52125 or $975.

They did not have the vehicle in stock and had to find one in the colors we wanted (silver with graystone interior in tech entertainment)

What is the cheapest I can expect to get the AWD Advanced with Ent package in Cali?

Would it be reasonable to ask for above for $52K?

mazymus 04-16-2014 06:31 PM

seems like the lowest i can get for advance and enter package is $53,400 at this point. what do you guys/gals think?

upnorth85 04-16-2014 07:35 PM

My understanding is that 2015 model has started on the production floor and should be at the dealerships starting mid June. So you might get a bit more discount in June to clear the 2014 inventory, particularly if the 2015 model has some improvements.

No improvements and 2014's are already in slim supply, except for some base models. Don't expect anything more than you see now, as it simply is unnecessary.

Clearing inventory is never an issue for most Acura models, except for older designs. Careful production control, proper pricing, and strong demand means you buy the vehicle and not the discount especially on the RDX and MDX.

2014 MDX's are still on order for a bit longer, and being built, actually. The RDX has switched over but not the MDX. No changes for either, except for price increases. Buy when the time is right for you, not because you are waiting out on some kind of further discount that won't happen.

beach109, every Acura dealership I see in our area has plenty of non-base MDXes, at least going by their online "New Inventory". Where is this exactly that MDXes are in "slim supply"?

Regarding 2015, is it your educated guess that (1) there won't be *any* changes, even minor and (2) there *will be* price increases or do you know for sure? How?

There is always a price increase, and there are no changes mentioned as of yet. Color combinations and trim levels stay the same as of now.

The 2nd model year for Acura vehicles does not bring much. Nothing confirmed yet but they are ordered, 2015 MDX's.

In regards to availability, it is not that there are no Tech, Tech/Ent, etc. 2014's but rather these models are in constant demand and turn quickly. Waiting for later to get incentives that are unnecessary now, or better pricing, when they will be sold out for the most part except for a few less popular color and trim combinations is never a great move to make.

Good luck shopping, and make things simple. Find the model you prefer, and a dealer you like that is local, and make it work for both. With Acura, the vehicle combinations and dealer options are simple.

Stopped in at couple of my local dealers and they also have plenty of MDXs in stock. We drove through their lot and I would say easily 20-30 MDXs in the lot each.

Got offer for 53600 for advance AWD.

I still have to pay taxes and DMV fees.

Good?

Whoops, meant to ask good or fair deal?

Thanks

upnorth85 04-20-2014 07:25 AM

A great discount of around $3000. So much for those who say no discount for Acura's! I will in the market later this summer. I have never had qualms in buying new cars outside my state. Dealers closest to your homes generally are not very accommodative in making good deals. But that is my anecdotal experience.

I agree with your statement about local dealer not very accommodating for deals.

Best deal I found locally on 2014 MDX Advance is $53,400. Considering 2015s are just around the corner I think it's fair price. Out of state I found $52,300 but you add ~$1,000 shipping and hassle factor than it's about same I think. I just wish my local dealer could match the $52,300.

mazymus 04-20-2014 03:33 PM

Thanks

wow, $52300, that's a great deal

So 2015 are really coming out that fast? The dealer thought it would be end of the year

zabaroptik 04-26-2014 01:31 AM

California - San Jose Costs

I just purchased my first MDX today, here is the deal I got:

MDX with Advance and Entertainment Package
- Protection package 2
- Door edge trim
- Advance running boards

Graphite Grey with Ebony

Included: 11 services - 6 small and 5 major

Total cost: $53,500 and with tax and other fees rounded out to $59,000

upnorth85 04-26-2014 10:06 AM

Congratulations!
Did you first negotiate the base price first and then added the accessories? If so what was that basic price?
If there was a choice for this model without the Entertainment package, would you have preferred that?
thanks.

Great deal! I'm not surprised that this came out of CA. When buying Lexus, CA dealers were discounting them almost twice as much as other states. Competition really makes the free market work way it's supposed to. Your taxes and fees does seem to bring the price up more.

unr1 04-26-2014 08:49 PM

you guys need to say if it's an AWD or FWD when you say your offered price or deal.

upnorth85 04-27-2014 12:44 AM

I was at my local dealer today. He told me they have placed orders for 2015 MDX supply in June. They have no idea on price or colors. I told him to email me when they have more information.

I hope they do something about making Android and iOS compatibility for the blue tooth SMS. Right only 3 outdated Blackberry's are compatible with the SMS feature.

zabaroptik 04-29-2014 12:13 AM

It was a AWD

My price was the best in San Jose and around the area. I told them the target price and the accessories than I wanted included and the service package as well.

They tried to offer forest mist metallic, and told me they could do the deal but only in this color. But refused and told them it had to be graphite with ebony.

They spent around 3hrs thinking about it and then come back to me and told them they would do the deal.

This was done via the internet manager, he said it was cheapest they have ever sold this model.

I only wanted the advance and entertainment package, so never tried to negotiate anything else. That was another thing, at first they tried to tell me they could only do this deal with the FWD, but after pushing then they gave me the AWD.

I pick the MDX up tomorrow 4/29.

technil 05-02-2014 09:00 AM

I went to the dealer yesterday trying to pick up a 2014 MDX with Tech Pkg but all of their cars got hail damaged. They said they'll give me $500 discount off the lowest price or will repair it for me. I don't know how it's going to be after repair so I decided to wait for the new shipment.

After checking, they said that 2015 MDX will be in with the new shipment in a couple of weeks. Anyone heard anything else about the 2015 MDX release date? Should I wait for the 2015 MDX or get the 2014 with a better discount.

Any major different between the 2015 and 2014?
