Warm Weather Replacement Tires for 2016 MDX SH-AWD
Looking to replace tires on my 2016 AWD. I live in Southwest Florida and am getting ready for the torrential rain season. I do mostly long highway commutes (about 500-750 miles per week). I also visit job sites in this vehicle and ride at low speed in flat dirt/ mud/ rock several times per week. Car also serves as the family vehicle for weekends and holiday trips to Orlando. Please help with some advice. Currently have Firestone Destination tires on it (245/55 R19) (my car dealership is baffled at how I could have been talked into making this decision. Trying to not make another bad decision). Priorities are are safety in rain, quiet ride, comfortable ride, street performance (I need to sometimes highspeed overtake dump trucks on 2 lane roads and need the stopping and cornering power), durability (ability to do light duty traveling on rock and dirt roads), lastly longevity. Car currently has 85,500 miles. Stock tires lasted under 40K miles probably due to the Florida heat. Appreciate all your help!

FWIW I live in the SE USA and experience temps and rainfall that’s comparable if not identical. The day I purchased my 2020 SHAWD Tech I had the OEM Continentals taken off and replaced with Continental LX25. I’m very happy with my observation of the attributes you list as important. Especially the wear after 20k miles. They look new.

my favorite tire for the last few car's we've owned is the continental DWS-06. excellent rain traction as well as dry traction, quiet , decent tread life. I've run several sets on a MB e class, put a set on my MDX hybrid, daughter runs them on her Ford edge, and DIL on mazda. The downside is somewhat limited tire size selection. On the MDX with only a 8" wide rim had to settle for a sligthly small diameter tire, they weren't available in the OEM 20" size.

Really like Yokahams for price and quiet ride. I will be in the market this fall also. Currently my front runner is the all new Pirelli Scorpion AT3. 70K mile treadwear, quiet ride and so far reports are among the best.

I've always had good luck with Conti DWS 06 on my previous Acuras lasting and performing all 4 seasons the full +50,000 mile treadlife (06 TSX, 08 RDX, & 11 MDX). Routine rotations/cross-rotations every oil change interval is key to keep the noise down and even tire wear. I will update to the Conti DWS 06 Plus when my 18 RLX (17,000 miles) and 19 MDX (22,000 miles) are due for tires.

I agree with what others have said that the Conti DWS 06 is the best performing all-season tire for these vehicles, but keep in mind that they don't make the stock size; the closest is 255/50ZR19, which is 29" diameter (will be close to 28.5" when worn down) compared to the 29.6" diameter of the stock 245/55R19.
If you want something in the stock size with longer tread life, the Michelin Defender LTX will be much better than the Firestones.
