Trim Level and MPG?
Trim Level and MPG?
Yes, I did do a search and what I came across was pretty old so I am curious about what folks are getting these days. Believe it or not in my '09 TSX I am getting only 21 MPG with 90% (some weeks 100%) city driving and I am not even rough with the throttle anymore.
So I am curious, what MDX trim level do you have and what type of MPGs are you seeing?

19 MDX hybrid Adv since March/19 with a little under 20,000 miles always in sport IDS mode. Live and drive at 5000-7500 feet mostly in NM with posted interstate speed of 75 mph and I'm usually 5-8 mph above that. Always 91 Octane from Sam's club and I drive more Sporty compared to Eco/hybrid. I use an iPhone app called Road Trip that is linked to my Dropbox to track maint and fuel data.
- My lifetime mpg is 24.5 over 20k
- high of 28.69 mph for 346 miles (100% hwy at 80 mph in summer)
- low of 20.5 mpg for 170 miles (below freezing and stiff headwind at 80 mph)
Big improvement over my 11 MDX Adv or 08 RDX at 18-19 mpg lifetime. My MDX hybrid isn't that far off from my 06 TSX with a 26.7 mpg lifetime.

Trim package has almost nothing to do with fuel economy. The few pounds difference wont make .002MPG difference over the life of the car.
but to answer your question.
2018 Tech SH AWD liferime average 22.42MPG
max 27.58MPG
min 15.50MPG
those are all hand calculated numbers.

The hybrid may be the way to go if you need space for 6-7 folks+cargo, comfy to sporty ride with a click of the IDS button, excellent city mpgs in any traffic conditions, the best "bang-for-the-buck" awd system with tq vectoring on the market for sport sedan handling, smoothest powertrain for any Acura SUVs, 3.7L to 4.0L V-6 power with 2.4L I-4 fuel economy, same fuel tank size and cargo space of the 3.5L MDXs, and more low end hp/tq for city driving.
The big issues are availability and cost for finding a hybrid compared to 3.5L MDXs. Doesn't look like the 4th Gen MDX will roll out a hybrid replacement in 2022. Production will soon stop (if it hasn't already) on the 2020 3rd Gen MDXs to tool up for the 2022 4th Gen. You might have to shop coast-to-coast and expand your search to used, CPO, and new for a good deal on a hybrid (and color combo you want). I ended up buying my CPO 18 RLX hybrid with 7200 miles at an Acura dealership near Sacramento, CA, in Dec/19 because they had the best deal and the color combo I wanted. Flying from ABQ, NM, to CA and driving back was still cheaper than my second choice RLX hybrid in Kansas City that was $3500 more (same mileage, non CPO, and 2nd choice color combo of modern steel metallic/ebony).

But anymore it's starting to become pointless driving a small sedan that I do still enjoy driving but doesn't give me much of anything in any category.
Yep and this is kind of the thing for me right now. I have always owned coupes and sedans but am considering something with a little more utility but I don't need to carry too many passengers either. Crossovers kind of bug me for some reason, though, so if I am going bigger it would probably be an SUV. But MPG is important to me too...so yeah a hybrid would be perfect.

Another option would be the +19 RDX for a CUV that would have decent utility and really good handling with sh-awd and electronic dampers (only the RDX Adv have electronic dampers). It would give you the utility you want, comfort to sporty ride with Adv RDX, a few upgrades you can't get on the MDX (pano sunroof, 3D ELS, 10AT, rear camera washer, HUD, etc...) and a big improvement in power compared to your TSX. The major downside is you probably get the same 21 city mpgs or less with the 2.0T RDX as your TSX.

Positive items were the 3D ELS system, Pano sunroof, HUD, 16 way adjustable seats, min turbo lag, and LEDs seemed brighter than my MDX and RLX.

Take a look at my last 2 trips and last 4 tanks
Since my last oil change, 5100 miles ago, I am averaging 31.7 mpg
