Mdx Elite 2012 MPG

Hello everyone! i just got my new truck at the beginning of DEC and my mpg results seem to be off scale from the charts which at the dealer they stated an avg of 17mpg...i live in montreal canada and I'm doing 19L/100km which corresponds to 12.5 to 13 MPG....im sure this truck is drinking way too much! Has anyone else encountered the same readings?

Thanks for your input!

After a 6 month study w/ '11 Advance ...
I get 17 + MPG City in the Summer and 16 + MPG City Winter.
Shell, Ex Mobil, Valco, Costco, 93 Prem or 89 + 93 mix = 91. All no difference in MPG or Pickup.

If you get siginicantly less ... you are prob driving in harsh stop go
or pedal to the metal bat out of hell.

If your average speed is 25 then you probably spend a lot of time running in 1, 2 or 3rd gear, that will not give you good MPG even if you accelerate slowly. I get about 15 in town and up to 20 on a freeway and BTW - isn't calling an MDX a "truck" an insult? Trucks come in 3 sizes - 1, 2 or 3 lawn-mower carriers. OK, some are used by painters or pool-boys but the rest are posers.

I get 16+ city in Dallas City w my '11 MDX Advance.
At 4500 lbs if you drive it hard or in stop and go you will get less.
Too much Spak Italiano ...

like others have said, its a heavy vehicle. and sounds like you're driving in stop and go city driving.

My 2007 with the older 5 speed transmission gets 17-18 mpg in mixed city.highway. On the open highway only, I get 23 mpg averaging 70-75 mph. The newer 6 speed MDXs should do better on the highway. Also I run 93 octane.

I've gotten as low as 9 mpg while in city, and as high as 24 on the highway. Mixed seems to be around 17. Also, you should let the engine break in a little bit. Drive to Toronto a couple of times and then see if the mileage improves.

This is exactly why mileage will be poor in short stop n go driving. Getting a 4500 vehicle up to speed from a stop takes a lot more fuel.
