Transmission System Problem - Code P2711 - MDX 2016

Finally our 2016 MDX tranny is throwing Transmission System Problem error. Mileage is 58k only. We had purchased it in 2015 and soon after purchase, in a couple of months, I had started noticing hard shift in lower gears. Dealer refused to acknowledge it as a problem. They even kept it for couple of days to test it.

Fast forward, two weeks ago it threw code P2711. The car runs fine, the gear shifting is the same as it was before. Took it to the same dealer and they said it needs a new transmission and that it doesn't qualify for extended warranty under the service bulletin 17-026 (https://www.mdxers.org/attachments/b17-026-pdf.118814/). I doubt that they did the ATF warmer pressure test. They are saying there is no relation to the error code P2711 (Mechanical Gear disengagement).

I called up AHC requesting for goodwill and they opened a ticket. They had an interaction with the dealer and thereafter refused to honor the goodwill. The reason was that I had declined the dealer recommended transmission service at 3year/30k. I was waiting for 60k or maintenance minder 3 which has not showed up until now. Perhaps that was a big mistake considering that this is ZF9. The cost of replacement is quoted at 7.5k and that is a pretty hefty price. Figuring out options. Any suggestions?

Any update on this? Are you still driving it? Have you noticed any weird <CHIRP> noises when accelerating from 20 mph after coasting down from more than 40? (5th to 3rd gear kickdown).

The ATF warmer leak check runs around $500 and doesn't seem to be covered if no leaks are found.

Do you have the KG9 campaign letter from AHM, extending the warranty to ten years?

Regarding the goodwill denial, does the following apply to you and your vehicle?:

*4: Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher transmission temperature. This requires transmission fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If you regularly drive your vehicle under these conditions, have the transmission fluid changed at 30,000 miles (48,000 km).
If not, there would have been no reason to have done the service prior to Code 3 coming up on the maintenance minder.
