I really hope by the time my active shocks need replacing Ill be trading it in lol. So far after putting on 13k I'm happy with the performance.

Megan Racing makes full coilovers for 2014+ Models. I've never had experience with their products but the quality seems to be mid grade.

I would look into a wider wheel with sticker tires.

 

what about the wider wheels make you think it would make the handling characteristics change to my preference? surely, I can look into lighter wheels to reduce rotational weight. having slightly smaller offset will push the wheels outward a little more which can give it more planted feel and slightly slower steering. I wouldnt mind the steering change as the oem in sport mode is well weighted but slightly twitchy in terms of too fast of steering to minor input.

sticking to oem size would make the wheels lighter than say 19x9.5". the other forum member used 20x10" wheels and even though the weight was the same to stock wheel/tire combo, he felt slower acceleration with it. I wonder if having increased width and contact patch equated to slower acceleration. this is very small sample size and also the opinion of 1 so its hard to base off of that info.

Interestingly on mightycarmods on youtube, they did a apples to apples comparison of brz/ae86 with good tires vs coilovers, the good tires made a bigger difference on the track, while the good tire + coilovers did best. perhaps I should do wheels and tires first and see if that is enough to get the car to handle the way i want it to before the coilovers. at 43k miles, the shocks feel adequate at the moment.

 

ASpec wheels with Pilot Super Sports is what I would do. Shocks and springs or full coilovers is out of the question.

 

TFR enkei wheels

looking at these 19x9.5" concave wheels from enkei tuning as they are pretty light at ~21lb vs ~29lb oem wheels. Enkei are known for being strong as well. offset is +35 though and not sure how it would look in terms of sticking out compared to oem offset which i am not sure what it is. It is exciting to think this would save 30+lb in rotational weight and an interesting copper on black mdx combo.

 

Be very very careful of offsets. Offset wheels can place an adverse load on bearings and other suspensions components.

 

9.5 wide wheels with a 35 offset should be flushed with your fenders. Try searching for a photo
