I'm trying to figure out if it is time to service a 2017 MDK. I got it used from a dealership. The display of the engine info says 60% but when I check the engine oil with the dipstick it looks much lower than that. Picture attached. Dipstick oil level
Oil consumption for the 3rd Gen MDX isn't an issue compared to the previous 10-13 MDX with the 3.7L engine. The 14-20 3.5L engine takes 5.7qts for full. Good chance the dealership just put in 5 qts and called it a day? I would still double-check the oil level at 50%,40%, 30%, and 20% marks to see if you do have an oil consumption issue. I wouldn't worry about it if you have no change in oil level when you hit the 15% M.I.D. oil change notification.
the 60% is likely the remaining oil "life" before a change is due, AFAIK the MDX does not monitor actual oil level. If it goes below a certain level to a low oil level it may give you a warning. Read the manual, lots of info on the display info. BTW as long as the oil level is between the hash marks oil level is ok. your maybe 1/2 qt low, between the has marks is 1 qt difference. Also the oil level with vary depending on when you check it. after shutoff will likely read lower than after sitting several hours, car not level will also affect it.
