Rear Differential Fluid Change @ Valvoline

My nearest dealer is about 50 miles away now and it's a real PITA to get there for mainetance. It's time for the rear differential fluid to be changed out in our 2019 Advance AWD. I was wondering if anyone has had this done at the Valvoline Instant Oil change locations and if the fluids they use are compatible/equivalent to the OEM? I had them do an oil change for me a month or so ago but didn't have the rear differential done at the same time because I wanted to research it first.

Your owners manual specifies exactly what is needed. As long as they have the oil that meets Acuras specificstions you should be OK. I guess you need to take the specs in and have them show you the specs on their oil.

It might even come out cheaper if you purchased the oil yourself and found a local shop to do the labor. Another option is a Honda dealership since the new Pilot/Ridgeline are using the same (programmed to be less sporty) sh-awd system.

I did my own last year, and had to get the fluid from the Acura dealer as the closer Honda didn't carry it (maybe they do now). It was easy to do and only needed the fluid, 2 crush washers, and a simple pump (which made it easier). https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I concur with the idea of reaching out to a mailorder Acura parts department and ordering the fluid, and bring it with you to the shop and have them use the fluid you give them. Also remember the fill and drain crush washers as part of your order. It's not so much the labor/skill to do the drain/fill - that's easy. It's using the right fluid that's important.
