Picked up a 2014 Tech - Fathom Blue Pearl
She joins my 6mt 2003 ABP CL. Got her with fog lights, front sport bumper trim, advance running boards, roof rails, crossbars, all season mats and cargo tray.
As you can tell I like Acura blues, wish it was a bit brighter, but it's a nice shade. I hadn't seen one yet around here. Lots of White and Black ones though. Last MDX we had was a 2003 and am impressed with how far they've come (I guess it better be given 11 years). A few items feel cheap to me (sunglasses holder, plastic on the dash, etc). I'm still trying to get used to all of the options with the Navi and Infotainment stuff. Not as intuitive as I'd like, but I'm getting used to it. All of the interior LED and ambient lights are a nice touch.
Of note, as far as the accessories
Fog lights: Not really noticeable day to day from the driver's seat because of the excellent LED headlights. I haven't driven it in fog or rain to see if there is a noticeable difference there. I do like the look, but to some not worth the cost.
Cargo Tray: The foldable tray is a bit disappointing. It's a great idea in general, but doesn't have any texture or grips on the bottom to keep it in place. It is nice that it folds when I use the 3rd row, but if I'm parked on an incline and have some weight on it (backpack or cargo for example) it will slide down and actually gets in the way of the hatch as it closes. I did find a workaround by lifting up the cargo area rectangular anchors to block the cargo tray movement. Just a little annoyance given the over engineering of most OEM accessories.
Gas Mileage
First 1000 miles averaging about 16mpg, but I have to admit I have a lead foot and of that 1000 miles I'd say about 400 were 30 mile+ trips (of which we were averaging 23mpg Highway) 91 Octane gas at Costco and Valero (Northern California). Pic below is from an app on my iPhone called Fuel Monitor:

Thanks! Yup, it's a 2003 6 speed manual with 70k miles. It's been a really great car. Very fun to drive and reliable.

Good choice of color, Speed_Racer!
I have just purchased an advanced MDX, in fathom blue also. In fact, I've waited a long time for this color: I could have gotten one last year if I wanted a black or white, but I held off for it!
I prefer this darker blue to brighter shades, for it looks reserved and elegant! It is bright enough under the sun, and yet turns dark under the shade. Very nice!
I too, upgraded my MDX from the 1st gen model (2001). It has been a dependable and nice SUV, but feels dated. So far I've only put on 700 miles on the odometer, but am enjoying it very much. I am making excuses to get in the car and drive! So far l have zero issues with the car, and like everything on it. I even like the two screen display that everyone is complaining about!
Again, congratulation for picking a great SUV with a nice color!

Hey from the South Bay and Great color choice!
I just picked up a Graphite MDX, see you on the road sometime! Nice selection of exterior trims - the advance boards with sport trim looks great (I'm debating what to do since the sport trim doesn't come with a hitch cutout option)

Nice! Was trying to get my wife to pick blue and then finally she said "This is my car, not yours". Anyway, love the color!
And I'm actually from Walnut Creek (wayyy back when...)

Summer is Coming
Congrats on the new MDX. I really like that blue. I had a dark blue BMW and really liked it. Seems most cars today are either black, white, or one of a thousand shades of grey. Very nice.

Beautiful colour! And you have kept it so clean too!!! Thanks for the great photos.
BTW, how do you like the graystone interior? Does it show every single piece of dirt? Or is it pretty easy to maintain?

Love the Graystone interior. Gives it a more spacious feel than the black interior. So far it's been holding up pretty well. It doesn't show much dirt, the biggest issue I see is dye transfer from my jeans, but leather cleaner clothes clean that up pretty quick.

Thanks! Do you like it more than the Parchment interior? Not that it's an option for this blue colour but how do you compare it to Parchment please?

I did a test drive of an RDX and MDX SH Advance. I was unable to use Bluetooth to send a text message or to read on the screen. The sales person told me, Acura for some reason has great integration with only Blackberry. Can you or anyone else tell me if Acura Bluetooth in MDX works for texting on Android? I have an SGS 5.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I think I would have picked Parchment if given the choice. I had it on my 2003 MDX and it was a nice color and wore pretty well. I don't know how to compare the two given I had both generations apart. I don't remember having the dye transfer issue from my jeans with Parchment though.

Please do update if you are able to use Android for Bluetooth SMS. The Acura owners web site gives compatibility information. 3 pretty old Blackberry's are the only ones compatible with the Bluetooth functionality. Pi am very disappointed about this. The navigation systems in most cars are well behind Garmin and Tom Tom. I do hope the 2015 MDX has some improvements in this area.

I have an HTC One S and I can send and receive SMS ok. Remember, there's a setting in the car AND on your phone that you need to turn on for it to work. Even if it's connected via Bluetooth and you can make calls from the car, you need to turn on those settings. At least I had to do it on mine.
