NAV and OOPS

Hit the mailbox next to my driveway turning to back in a few weeks ago . It was not in the rear view mirror, it was blocked by the rear quarter panel windows, and not in the rear camera in the NAV unit, nor did the side warning trigger. Unfortunately the MDX is now in the body shop being fixed. I am heart broken. But Enterprise rented me a Pathfinder. The NAV and back up camera in it are so much better than my 2014 or 2015 MDX SH-AWD Tech. I am sure Pathfinders have their own demons but I was amazed at the clarity of the view in the backup camera. And - when I went to back out of my garage, it sees the side of the garage door opening as a threat and warns me even though it is about a 18" to the side of the car. The potential collision warning when backing flashes its location on the camera view to look at that area for clearance when backing. Were the Acura side sensors that sensitive, and had they sounded when backing, the mailbox and MDX would never have met. I can't say shame on Honda but with my Honda/Acura car batteries dying every 18 months, the chance of paint flying off the top of the car due to factory paint issues with white diamond pearl, service at the dealers being overwhelmed by recalls - the MDX just doesn't have the appeal I thought it would when I bought it. I wish that Acura would upgrade the camera and software to be like the Pathfinder one even if it is an option one can install. That said, I no longer have faith in Acura like I did when I bought the Legends many years ago. As a parent company they don't seem as customer centric as they were at one time.
