MDX advance down shift too past?

Have you ever notice the car down shift too fast?
basically let's say you're going 40MPH and there's a red light in front and you let go the gas, indeed your car will slow down but then you feel the tranny down shift to slow down the car even when the light is far far away?

Yes, noticed the same thing. It downshifts kind of hard doesn't it? I went to the dealer to check for issues and they say it is normal. Hmm..

I only notice it downshift too fast if I set the IDS to Sport mode. In Normal/Confort modes, it's fine to me.

I'm still on 300miles which I don't want to put the car in Sport mode yet just in case i rev the engine pass 3k RPM. I'll try comfy mode this weekend and see if feel smoother!

I noticed it too, and I love it. It behaves more similarly to a manual transmission, and should save on some brake pad wear over time.

Brake pads are cheaper to replace than transmissions.

^^^^^

Unfortunately, if Acura designed the tranny this way, there is nothing we can do.

I doubt it will cause appreciable transmission wear. Most situations are not engine braking down a steep, extended downhill.

As for keeping revs below 3K during break in, that's too extreme.
