MDX 2014 Leather Seat question
MDX 2014 Leather Seat question
Hi, I recently purchased a new 2014 MDX. I just noticed that on mine, the material underneath the headrests and the material inbetween the second row seats is not leather. Can anyone confirm this is the same on theirs?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I am a 2013 MDX tech owner and considered the 2014 for next year but I nixxed it from the my list due to the above and all the glitches reported in this news group about the GPS/entertainmement setup.
For your reference, my wife's 2014 RX at a similar price point runs circles around the MDX in the tech gadget dept. Compared to the MDX w/tech she has better leather seats with cooling, self leveling head lights, Pandora and app integration, folding mirrors, park assist, blind spot indicator, a great back up camera, a quieter ride and much better finish overall.
Yes, the RX does not handle as sharp as the MDX, but then again, I am a commuter in NY city so the fact that the MDX can pull grater Gs is almost irrelevant.
My wife and I test drove the RX and I'm advising my wife not to buy that. In my opinion it's not as versatile as the MDX, not as nice looking and over priced for what you get. Also hate the half moon shape dash! Worst looking dash design I've seen. Also in my opinion MDX is quieter in the cabin.

The cargo space is not that different. In my case the third row doesn't even fold flat and I have to remove the head rests. Don't know what the story is here with the 2014.
As far as cabin noise, I find the RX quieter. Perhaps the tires that we have vs what you rode are different.
It sounds like you have not test drove the 2014 MDX. They made great improvements for the 2014 in the noise and third row functionality. Head rest folds automatically and second and third rows fold completely flat. Only thing may be questionable build quality and some use of some cheap material.
I purchased 2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport in January after owning Acura TL-S for 13 years and I love it but still don't think Lexus RX is better than MDX. Just my opinion and if you test drive the 2014 it may change yours as well.
By versatile I mean the option to have third row seat as well as being able to slide the second row back and forth to adjust leg room space. Also the second and third rows fold down completely flat if you need to haul lot of things. Also easy 1 touch access to the third row from both sides as needed.
Disclaimer: I don't own 2014 MDX yet but have been researching for several weeks including test driving as we are considering buying it. We test drove RX, RX F-Sport, Highlander & Santa Fe to compare.

Actually, if you think about it, the reason they put the 'fuzz' there instead of leather is to prevent leather from rubbing against each other and causing a noise that would drive all of us crazy. It makes sense from an engineering standpoint.
Agreed.. I can't believe some of the petty and misinformed complaints on this forum. If you don't like the MDX for issues like this (aside from legitimate mechanical or similar issues) then your bad for not looking over the vehicle when test driving it etc. if you want the finish of a more expensive vehicle, feel free to spend another $20,000.00 or more on German or "British" metal.
