Is enterainment pkg worth the extra $2000?

Greetings to all current/future 3G MDX owners, I will be in the market for a 2015 this summer, and cannot decide if the entertainment pkg is worth the extra 2000, from what i have found so far, it has the 9" screen, 2nd row heated seats and manual sunshade over the tech. pkg.

for those who have the entertainment pkg, or thought about it but didn't get it, please share why you got it or why you didn't get it.

Thanks!!!

I only got the Ent package for my 11 MDX Adv for the rear heated seats. Only use the screen to show off to folks for 2-3 minutes. Everything my son needs in the back seat is on his iPhone or the family 128GB iPad mini.

I too plan to get the advance, the chance my entertainment system will be ever used in 5 years is 0. I will be throwing away $2k as the price for buying the advance model.

The audio in the advanced is also slightly different with the addition of 2 speakers and a heftier amp. We do a lot of road trips for us that screen is well worth it.
Plus the advanced has a host of other goodies that make it well worth the price. Personally I love the active seat belts and the radar cruise.

I got the Tech over the Ent (and im a massive tech guy) - the Ent rear dvd/110v plug, extra center channel speakers, rear shades and heated seats are of no concern to me as a driver - and i have no one to chauffer who'd benefit from it - if i ever need rear seat ent i've got spare ipads, 110v invertors, portable monitors etc for the rare long trip >2hrs

as said above - it works great for keeping kids entertained on road trips, but beyond that, i don't see major uses unless climate is a big concern

Acura should remove the factory install for DVD and make it a dealer option. In these days of IPads and fast data connectivity, DVD's are not a premium option. We do not even use DVD's in our own. Streaming from Comcast, Netflix and Amazon Prime is more than adequate. Not to mention iTunes downloads of entire episodes of serials and movies onto IPads.

Heated seats are nice in Chicago winter as my wife sits in the back with our 9 month old. I don't get why Acura doesn't make 2nd row heated seats standard on the $48000 Tech pkg.

This, and one-touch up/down rear windows.

I have an AWD Advance Entertainment and we use the 16" wide entertainment system pretty much everyday. Wife usually drives 3-5 kids around everyday and they love it.

It is great if one has kids, but not otherwise. So the best option is to give it as a dealer add for all trims rather than forcing all those who want the advance model to have the DVD and bump the price even more. Most people who buy the advance model buy it for the lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, not the DVD function. DVD just adds to the advance price.

My wife and I were in the process of buying Advance but we are beginning to like the ideal of Tech and iPad Mini Retina with big storage for our two kids more. It may save us few hundred and also provide ability for kids to use it while not in the car if they choose. As for other Advance features only thing I think we'd (actually me) miss is ventilated seats but even that seems to get mixed reviews from current owners.

Other upgrades with the Advance are 19" rims, auto leveling headlights, IDS, CMBS, BSI, ACC, and cooled seats. I've pretty much used them all the first day driving my MDX home from the dealership 5 hours away (not the auto leveling headlights). ACC/CMBS is so nice to have for hwy cruising! You just have to steer the MDX without having to cancel, brake or accelerate with your hands and feet all the time with normal cruise. You can disable any or all features whenever you want.

The only thing I haven't tried yet in my Ent package is connecting the ipad to the AUX connectors in the rear. I was thinking my wife in the front seat and rear passengers can watch the same movie at the same time (ipad on her lap and passengers using drop down screen). The Ent package can use wireless and wired headphones at the same time.

IDS is available on all trims and 19" wheels are available Tech and up. I didn't see any mention of auto leveling headlight for any trim and not sure if that is really needed after it's been set initially.

I have ACC and CMBS on my Lexus and while it is very neat features it's not as useful for everyday driving since I can do the controls much better without the abrupt braking you get out of these systems. I find my self turning it off if I see the car in front to avoid the system making adjustment. I also think all of these may be too much for my wife who isn't technically savvy and get herself into situations with them.

My bad about the auto adjusting headlights. I think only the Canadian with Ent models have this available. My wife prefers simple also; but, I am slowly getting her tech savvy after 30 years together.

I stopped in at my local dealer and changed the paperwork to purchase the Tech they had in stock instead of the Advance that was on it's way to the dealer today. I can't say I'm 100% convinced this was the right decision considering we'll be buying it outright and holding it for 10+ years but based on feedback from the others this feels like the right thing to do.

I think only feature I'll miss would be the ventilated seats and wish there was some way to add that to the Tech.

I gave up my Advanced TL and haven't missed the ventilated seats. They were not that noticeable. In my humble opinion.

I opted for tech and even if ent was offered by itself I wouldn't have opted for it. Just not worth it
