Higher Mileage MDX Purchase
Hi all....
I posted something similar to this in the RLX forum but I'm also considering an MDX.
What are your thoughts on purchasing a used 2014-16 MDX with around 100K on the clock? Given that full records are available and maintenance has been kept up to date, would this be a good idea or not? Also, is it true that the 2014 model year specifically should be avoided?
Thanks for your thoughts....

The 2014 MDX has the usual 1st year model bugs; but, nothing that is a show stopper. I think there was an info-tainment update for +15 MDXs that couldn't be added to the 14 models. The 16 MDX was the first year with the 9AT and that is really hit or miss as far as smoothness. The 16 Models were also the first year you could get AcuraWatch on lower base/tech models as an option before it became standard for the +17 MDXs.
I really like the sh-awd 15 MDX Adv with Acurawatch and Entertainment along with the 6AT. You just have to double-check to see if the big 105,000 miles service was done. May or may not include the following for up to $1700 at the dealerships depending on the MDX: timing belt, spark plugs, antifreeze, water pump, valve adjustment, oil change, trans service, and/or rear diff. It is just tire rotations, wipers, filter changes, and fluid changes until the next timing belt change at 210,000 miles.

As a 2015 tech owner, the tran on my car is good as long as you don't drive in stop and go traffic, everything else are good, for those TSBs I had done in my car, dealer replace the Torque converter, flush the tranny, in winter, there also a chirping noise, they replaced the high pressure fuel pump, noise gone. I just ordered a VCMTunner 2, I am hoping it will help the jerking/lurching in the stop and go traffic.
