Handsfreelink with iPhone iOS8

According to all documentation, I should be able to get texts and emails in my 2015 MDX ADV from my iPhone 5s with iOS8. However, the car's display reads that the function is not supported by my phone. Are there some settings I'm missing, either on the phone or in the car? Any input would be appreciated.

Open bluetooth settings on your iPhone. Tap the info icon next to Hands Free Link and enable Show Notifications

Okay, my notifications were off. I'll try it as soon as I'm back in the car. Thanks for your help thus far.

It will work, but you won't be able to reply, at least not using the templates in the system. You can go through the process, but you'll get an error message that it failed. I have a 2016 and was hoping for the ability to both receive and reply....I'm sure if you contact Acura or Apple, you'll be able to find out that the other party is responsible.....

I'm sure. So far, I'm finding the audio (and iPhone) controls in the car to be piss poor.

I bought an iPod Classic 120GB on eBay and a 4" iPod cable on amazon. I synced my entire music collection to it and just leave it in the slot in the console. I don't like plugging my iPhone in/out of the car, so I only plug it in, using a car charger, if it needs a charge.

What I could really use is a tutorial on the best shortcuts for the voice control system, as my initial experience with that has been completely unproductive.

Exactly what I do. It avoids getting an audible message notification through the car stereo, while listening to music, if using the phone for the music.
