Getting out of EV mode

Getting out of EV mode
I noticed that sometimes when the car gets out of EV mode by itself, the RPM jump from 0 to about 2200 and a couple of seconds later mellow down to about 1200-1400, while at other times it goes from 0 to a more subtle 1200.
In all occasions while driving very light footed at about 35-40.

That sounds normal from the ECU programming, it is trying to be responsive to throttle inputs at various load, especially above 35mph.
At certain traffic pace, the in-and -out of EV mode latency is noticeable, therefore thankfully, they gave us he sport+ dynamic mode which disable the EV-only mode out......I just wish they gave us the 3.5L instead of 3.0L engine for more power....

I second the option for the 3.5L+hybrid with the MDX.
I keep the MDX in "Sport" mode. I haven't checked to see if EV mode is increased in frequency and duration in "Comfort" or "Normal" modes? I just like the steering and suspension feel in "Sport" mode.

Mine always seems to immediately spin to 2200 rpms even if I’m really light on the throttle coming out of EV mode at 35+. It does it to match the speed in case you need immediate power and creates no lag. Mine also upshifts within 2 seconds because I don’t need that immediate power 98% of the time. When you do need it though, it is great to have.

The RLX hybrid only has "Sport" and "Sport+" modes. It does engage EV mode more often and longer compared to the MDX hybrid. The RLX hybrid is only about 100 lbs less in weight; but, we get about 2-4 higher combined mpg driving the same routes. I've even noticed the EV battery in the RLX can sometimes charge up to 100% in normal driving and usually at or above the 1/2-2/3 charge level. The MDX hybrid battery usually hovers between 1/3-2/3 in Sport mode for me (sometimes below the 20% mark). You would think the MDX would engage EV mode more at lower speeds because of the 3.0L, tall SUV stance, and increased weight (with cargo and passengers in the MDX).

I've noticed the RLX normal start up mode feels a lot like Sport mode in my MDX hybrid with steering feel, throttle response, shifts, and EV engagement. We don't get the soft to hard suspension in the RLX because we don't have electronic dampers. RLX Sport Mode button responds just like the MDX Sport+ mode with locking out certain gears, holding gears longer, charging the battery to 100% ASAP, and faster throttle response. Another weird thing about Acura doing the same thing; but, different with every model.
