So I just got a MDX recently and I've have been thinking of getting an aftermarket exhuast as well. Since the current new Acura model delete the visibility or hide the exhaust tip, I know a few member here would be interest or find some way to make the exhaust or exhaust tip to be much noticable. With much brainstorming I came up with this idea. Name: Remus_zpsc86e1840.jpg

Basically what I did was to delete the bumper reflector and run the exhaust tip through there. Only question is if there any exhaust tip will fit there. One solution I have is a set of universal Remus rectangular exhaust tip. It seems kind of stick out further apart on the rear but when I saw how the BMW X6 have its exhaust placement stick out apart. Maybe for the MDX it might work out. I have not measure the spacing within the rear reflector to see if any exhaust tip will fit right in, I assume IT might be do able. Maybe it might look weird or maybe get some other member here with feedback would be appreciated.

too be honest, great idea....butt poor execution!

if you're going to use the bumper reflector, you'll need to use those as tips.
it looks odd with the ovals sticking out of the rectangles

That is what I thought too but maybe have a shop fabricate as the same layout on the reflector.

How about taking the center red reflector plastic out from the two elongated bumper chrome frames ?

Stick the exhaust pipes behind (not go through) the chrome frames, and treat the hollow chrome frames as the exhaust tips.

to give you a few ideas....
a lot of cars use a square/rectangle exhaust tip, like MB for example.
is it possible to cut the bumper/reflector and add the stock MB tips?

I do recall the new MB GLK exhaust tip is kind of angular

agreeing with an above reply, just leave the chrome surround as the exhaust tip, its not uncommon for vehicles to have "fake exhaust tips" a couple examples being the ISF, maybe this got fixed but this was 2008 for sure...

and another example which is 2013 escalade, a little better execution.

if you look closely at the picture, you can see the exhaust pipe sort of fits up to the black backing thats moulding toward the middle of the vehicle. but they are separate pieces...

so it would just be a matter of blacking out the back a little and the exhaust piping being re routed to each tip.... correct me if I'm wrong though.

I would be interested if someone put together a quality sounding (and quality) kit.

I don't think there would be enough people to get something going though.

I remember when I brought this up a while ago. You'll have to fab a 2nd exhaust to run to the other side since the 3G is now single exit. Use the reflector cut outs or cut

After some thought, I do enjoy not hearing anything with this car. Sometimes I can't tell that the car is even running. So I'm out, but I am curious what you guys can come up with.

Hello! New here... just picked up an MDX yesterday!

I'm thinking of plasti-dipping the rear bumper reflectors to imitate the image of an exhaust...

Here's a quick MS Paint...

Why not turn them into functional lights like on the prototype. Long Red LED lights would be amazing. The plain old red reflective light in my humble opinion was quite disappointing and a very cheap styling cue from Acura (reminds me of my bicycle).

I just removed my reflectors from those dummy exhaust tips. The chrome now resembles dual exhaust tips. There's only 3 screws holding those reflectors on the back. Very easy to remove. I was contemplating buying a whole new custom bumper until I read this thread. Then I went outside with a screw driver and now the bumper looks exactly as I imagined. So happy. Will try to post a pic.

Yes, i agreed that we should have a functional lights instead of the reflectors. But we do have options to modify it, i am sure.
