Debadging

Anyone debadge their 3rd gen MDX? I am pretty sure I want to debadge the MDX emblem, but not sure about debadging the SHAWD emblem in the rare event I access "4wd only" roads (as required in some snowy mountainous areas like little cottonwood) or places requiring 4 wheel traction.

If someone has photos of their debadged 3rd gens, please share!

I had the dealer debadge my '03 Acura CL-S at delivery, removing "Acura" and "CL typeS" emblems off the trunk and still like the clean look years later.

Very simple to do. I just uses fishing string or dental floss. Just slide it up and down and thats all you need to do.

I did my but I put it back because I plasti dip it in matte black

I have debadged three vehicles. Fishing line will work. Dental floss maybe, as it tends to break often. Suggest using gloves with either, unless you don't mind cutting off circulation to your fingers. If the temperature has been cool for days, a hair dryer will help warm up the area and make the job easier.

I used an expired credit card to get mine off. Then acetone or lacquer thinner to get glue remnants. Some fine polish to finish the job.

As far as a pic, maybe someone could photoshop the badges off and post here.

Thanks for the info, but I am looking for a picture. I know how to do it myself but I negotiated the dealer to do it as part of buying the car. I am thinking of just debadging the MDX, but I think it will look cleaner without the SHAWD emblem.

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, SFMDX. That's exactly what I was looking for! We have the same color, which also helps.

I think I need to take the SHAWD emblem off, as well. I was debating leaving it on but it looks really good with just the Acura emblem.

I agree. I really like that clean look. Did the same thing to my old car.

goo gone helps with removing the adhesive. If you leave a few scratches use cleaner wax or compound to remove it and it will look clean
