CPO: 2017 MDX w/tech or 2018 MDX w/tech

Hi guys,
I am thinking about trading in my 2013 RDX w/tech for either a 2017 or 2018 MDX w/ tech. Is there any advice you could give? Pros and cons for both and is there anything I should look out for such as known problems or issues. I've always liked every model MDX and its just been a sexy car to me. I am looking to make a purchase before September 30th somewhere in the Washington DC metro area. I would really appreciate any insight or experiences you could give.

I definitely want to do my research before I buy and absorb what you guys have to say.

So far the only differences I can tell is basically the headunit, car play and android play. The transmission software update on the 2018 seems to be the same for 2017. I would also consider the advance model as well

Thanks

Go 2018 because you get android auto. It brings our outdated infotainment system to life. Google maps is so useful and youtube music works flawlessly.

Thanks for the input.

Also is there generally any price wiggle room with a CPO vehicle?

It can really depend of the dealership like bmoua15 stated. Some let you negotiate price; while, others might be the "no haggle pricing" types. There is room to play with both of them with accessories, finance options, fees/taxes, and trade-in. I was looking for a CPO 18/19 RLX Sport hybrid under 10,000 miles last December. I widen my search from coast-to-coast because of limited inventory. Prices varied between a low of $41,000 to $48,000 for the exact same vehicle in different color combos and within 2K-4K miles difference between them.

Found the CPO 18 RLX I wanted near Sacramento at a no haggle dealership ($41,999, 7200 miles, red/ebony). My second choice was near Chicago for a gray/ebony 18 CPO RLX for $44,499. I went for the Sacramento RLX since it was already $2500 cheaper, no trade for them to low ball me on, and I didn't have to pay California sales taxes that was 2X higher than New Mexico's (that saved me another $1000). I saved the sales tax when the dealership drove the car to Reno, NV, to sign final paperwork with NV notary. Probably spent $700 for the entire 3 day weekend trip for one-way fight, hotel, gas, and food for the wife and I driving back to ABQ (had a nice time in Reno/Vegas on the drive back).

Anything and everything can be negotiated. From what I am seeing, 2017 & 18 MDX are priced pretty rich right now. Redesign 2021 MDX is late to production due to covid so that could be one issue. There are lots of incentives on new 2020 now. $2,000 loyalty, around $4300 dealer incentives if you lease a SHAWD w Tech and if you go to a higher MF on the lease, dealer incentive jumps to around $8250. Google "Edmunds Forums" and scroll through the MDX pages toward the end and you will get current info. On some lease, the car's price is below $42,000. You can always lease and then buy it at the end of the lease or at any point during the lease.

I ended up trading in my 2013 RDX w/tech for a CPO white 2017 MDX Advance with parchment interior last week. The MDX was just under 26,000 miles, 1 owner and zero accidents. Clean carfax

I got a fair trade in price for my RDX and got the MDX for 35k + taxes. Also put some cash down. I even got the special CPO interest rate.

Very happy with it. Drives smooth and shifts smooth. Will see if I can post some pictures in the coming days.
