Brake Pads and rotors

Hi - have been buying Acura pads and rotors whenever the brakes needed to be done. They are Ok but frankly I think they fade a little and they chirp sometimes. Helping my neighbor do his nissan today and he is using Bosch pads. They look pretty nice. Could MDX owners who have used aftermarket pads and rotors list what they are using and how they like them? Some of the aftermarket rotors are fully coated so they do not rust. Some are carbon. I have no idea what works as well or better then OEM.

almost all rotors will rust after rain even if they are coated on the part the rotors contact. The non-contact parts are certainly protected for a bit, but the coatings do tend to wear off. I've had great luck with RacingBrake and EBC rotors, and as well as EBC Pads.

Thanks for the recommendations. I scoured forums and found people like the EBC and akebono's. It also seems like a common complaint that the OEMs vibrate with indications of it being undersized for the larger MDX leading to issues.

I was ready to buy Akebono's but found they do not make rotors.

I might just try the EBC rotor and pads then to try to fix my vibration on brake issue at highway speeds

the only aftermarket pads I will ever use are Akeobono. Now many of the mfg source the OEM pads from Akebono as well so it's entirely possible that the OEM pads are Akebono as well. Are they the exact same pad? don't know.

Now the only time I use aftermarket pads pads are on German cars, the ones that quickly cover the wheels with black dust. VW, Mercedes, BMW etc. The last two MB I bought used I put on Akebono pads as soon as I could get them delivered. I hate black brake dust.

Now to the OP. I'm hard on brakes, yet our 2019 MDX hybrid has 52K miles and there is no brake vibration at all and I'm going to guess the OEM pads and rotors will go way past 100K miles.

MDX Pads and rotors

My original pads and rotors were replaced on my 2019 with Bosch rotors and pads. The original pads had 50% left but the rotors violently shaked at braking. This started at 38,000 milers.

Only have a few hundred miles but the Bosch seem well made and the installation was a breez other than getting the rotors off. Cost me about $210 for the front set up.

Used the Quiet cast line from Bosch. So far so good.

Good Luck
