Anyone else experiencing front driver side vibration?

I have 1800 miles on my 2014 MDX tech. On occasion, but now becoming more frequent, is a vibration, or motorized sounding noise from front left driver side. Happens at all speed levels, more frequent when I have been driving over 20 min or so.

I haven't taken it in to dealer yet but know that this is a next step.

I hear and feel the same motorized sounding vibration on the drivers side periodically on my 2014 MDX ADV.. I haven't brought it in to the dealer but would be interested to know if this is common and if any knows the cause.

There are many people experiencing this issue. However, there are also many folks who are not experiencing the issue and because it is generally intermittent it is hard to pinpoint at dealership.

My situation and suggestion to you...

At 2500 mi on car, local dealer tried to resolve noise issue through a bolt tightening routine but the noise continued.

As of 11/7 - car in for 8800 mi service and to resolve noise issue for second time. Result = no resolution on noise issue. Dealer couldn't replicate the noise and Acura corp doesn't have a fix nor did it seem to be on their radar screen.

Suggestion: If you are experiencing this issue and it is unresolved..call Acura Client Relations, we need to get this issue on to Acura's radar screen:

Here's what I did: Acura Client Relations at 800 382 2238, prompt 6. Told them -

- Vibration driver's side front
- Intermittent
- Occurs at 20 MPH +
- Started at 1000 mi on car
- Currently 8800 mi on car
- In to dealer twice for issue, they haven't heard it, issue remains unresolved

It was clear that Acura Client Relations hasn't heard enough about this issue from those who have the issue. Guy who took the call looked to see if there is a resolution in place and confirmed no resolution. He also couldn't see that issue is on "the list" of issues being worked, he did say that he can't see everything being worked on...so it is possible that it is in the queue.

If you are having this issue and it is unresolved, I recommend that you call Acura Client Relations directly to let them know. It's an easy call, they are very nice and receptive to the feedback.

Good luck, please let us know if you hear something new!

My wife pointed it out and I hear it as well. It is very hard to pinpoint and even make out what would be causing it. The vibration we experience is at a faster rate then the car is travelling or most components are moving. It seems like it may be from an electric motor or possibly speaker.

Very common issue although a TSB hasn't been released yet or made widely known. In many cases, it's a loose engine cover / radiator shroud. They are replacing the clips / grommets / hardware that secures the cover, which seems to resolve the noise many are experiencing. Some dealers have attributed the cylinder deactivation to this vibration but this shouldn't cause a consistent driveline vibration, unless there is an inherent flaw in the design.

Unfortunately, things like this often appear in the first year production of a new gen. Same for the 1G, same for the 2G. It takes time to iron these issues out. There is a TSB for out-of-spec propeller shaft bolt torque off the assembly (b13-042), which could potentially cause a driveline vibration, although symptoms are not specified.

Thanks!

I also think it's the loose engine cover and the noise is caused indirectly during cylinder deactivation/activation. My 1st oil change is due soon. I'll tell my service advisor to look for the fix when I bring it in. Maybe have them call the tech line in Torrance, CA?

It seems Acura has released a TSB for this. The TSB number is 14-003.

Someone on the other major MDX forum posted screenshots of the TSB. I am not sure if it's appropriate to re-post the content. Search on google for "MDX forum", you'll find it.

Just to update the thread: I had this done at my local dealer and have not experienced the vibration noise anymore. Hope the fix is permanent.

I hear a humming soft noise at a very low speed and when The fan and heat is turned off. I don't hear it when the fan is high or at high speed. Should I visit the dealership?

I just had my MDX in to the dealer to fix the vibration issue.. It did not fix the issue. I wet ahead and fixed the issue myself. I am working on a post. I tooks pictures and will post tonight or tomorrow. It was pretty simple to see where the noise is coming from, many spots.

Same here. My wife is complaining about noise/vibration when reversing and with steering (left or right).

There is a thread, or two, on this on the MDXERS.org site. Acurazine and MDXers are both terrific sites for us '14ers.

BTW... had the vibration TSB applied to my MDX a couple of days ago and the driver's side vibration seems to be gone. Yea.
