Another MDX ad

It's horrible. Tells you NOTHING about the MDX or why it's better then the competition.

Mullen, what the fack are you doing??

For how long do we have to deal with these horrible commercials?

Have to agree... very cryptic and gives very little information on the vehicle itself.

The point of this ad (and perhaps all the latest MDX's) is not so much as to sell the product directly but as much as to pique the interest and appeal to the "better" angels of humanity. Basically, they know the demographics of Acura buyers: educated, family with kids, logical, may be a bit of a liberal tilt, not very rich etc and then talk to them by telling how alike the MDX is.

At least that my arm chair reading with no experience what so ever in advertising or psychology

If there is one thing you can be sure of, it is that on the internet, the "virtual grass" is always greener on the other side of the fence.

The Canadian ad is much more mainstream and standard.

I really like the American ads - so much more thought-provoking and intelligent. No, it does not tell me much about the car, but it tells me something about what this car represents.... very unusual and upscale. Like them a lot!

I believe I read that the initial ads are for image and brand building. Later ads will focus more on the cars and features. Afterall, isn't that the consensus (LOL) that the problem with MDX isn't the car itself, but rather Acura's position in the luxury landscape?

Now, if only either of those ads...had a small snippet...just saying "28 MPG".

People are still shocked to hear that when I tell them, because they haven't seen it anywhere. That number (or 27) is a gold mine that could be written on walls.

First you have to build the image, and change the image. Then facts to go with, on point. We'll see how these go.

Colin, that is an excellent point! These ads are all about building a brand image. In my opinion, they are very successful for that reason.
