2015 tech package steering issue

So I just picked up a 15 with Tech package. On my way home from dealership I noticed right away that the steering wheel is a little wierd. So every time I turn the wheel right (regardless of whether I am accelerating or coasting) it is easier to turn the wheel right than left.

Ill try and explain in another way. For those who have a 14 or 15, when i turn the wheel right its as if I am in comfort mode and when I turn the wheel left its as if I am in sport mode. I havent brought it to the dealers attention yet because I know they wont know what it is.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has felt this? Thanks

BTW This is my 4th MDX and I just traded in my 14.

Thanks

Is it happening when making a 90 degree turn or while driving straight and then turning the wheel slightly from one side to another (like a lane change)? If the latter, is your lane keeping assist on? I notice that when the LKAS is on, it is hard to turn the wheel sometimes to switch lanes unless your turn signal is on. The LKAS definitely gives some resistance to the steering that you can physically feel go away once you use the turn signal.

Out of curiosity, why did you trade your 2014? How many miles did it have?

The OP has the Tech trim model, and doesn't have active LKAS steering assist.

I have seen a few newer mdx's in for the same complaint/issue. What we have tried is resetting the electronic steering system. On1 it worked with no further issues. But we have had 3, I think, that have had the rack replaced. Is the steering wheel straight?

Yes the wheel is straight and alignment is fine. It's just when I turn wheel right I'm in comfort mode and when I turn left it feels like sport mode. I'm bringing it in to Acura tomorrow. I'll let them know about resetting the electronic steering system.

I mean how does stuff like this get through QC?

Actually the wheel is not straight. Its cocked to the real easy side. To the right. Why do you ask?

Have them try the steering relearn/reset on the vehicle first. See if it helps. We had 1 MDX that had an initial complaint on a crooked steering wheel, to the right. We tried aligning it and initially it worked, but after about a week or so, the wheel would be offset to the right again. Turned out there was too much drag internally in the rack in 1 direction, to the left, and the servo motor on the rack was trying to correct for it. After we installed the new rack and realinged, the problem was gone. Your vehicle should turn right and left with the same amount of resistance and feel. If its hitchy or feels tighter, then theres a problem.

My 14 had 34,000 on it which I got in August of 2013. I'm in sales and do about 3k miles per month. I had a short that kept blowing the fuse 30. After three times in the shop for the same thing I had it. My brother in law is the general sales manager so he just put me in a 15 for Same payment.

So you went from a fuse bug to a steering bug...
It is crazy how many issues the 3G (still) has.
