Just got a 2014 Graphite/Ebony MDX Tech/Theater. Very nice car. We were considering the JX until the very end. The ONLY reason we chose the MDX was due to some serious brake issues we read about the JX. We do not want our families hands in a car with potential break issues.

that looks like a price for the FWD.

what is the quote for? FWD or AWD?

Wow, didn't know that JX had a recall on brake.

A scary story from an owner. But, the owner/delearship/Inifiniti's reactions were pretty impressive and very interesting to read:

Here is the notice of the recall.

Did you get any accessories? Please post some pics if you have some available. We are really considering graphite/ebony but no dealer around me has any in their inventory.

It looks like this happened to multiple people and had nothing to do with the recall.

Any chance we will see an Advance without the entertainment package? My kids have iPads and I will never use the entertainment system. So I don't want to pay for something I will never used and more than that I really just don't want it in my vehicle if I will not use it. I want many of the features on the Advanced except for that.

I've been told going forward the answer is 'no.' This is the new strategy for Acura. I was in the same position as you but now that I have the ADV+ENT I won't look back...it's awesome! I just purchased the iPad HDMI adapter and blast it up on the screen.

A quick question: I was talkin with a friend last night and he wasn't aware that LED headlights are standard on the MDX/RLX. He brought up the whole Audi DRLs and I told him I wasn't talking about DRLs. I'm talking about actual LED lighting, no HIDs. Then he said they'll probably be a $4K option and that he'd rather have HIDs instead of paying for newer tech.:sarcastic: I told him they were standard. Then the reliability question came up. Told him I'm pretty sure they'll be pretty reliable as LEDs tend to last an extremely long time (thinking about the new LED traffic lights, flashlights, etc), but one thing I thought about is replacement.

My question is if one of the LEDs go out, do you replace that section/LED bulb OR do you replace the headlight? I know it'll be covered under warranty (in case something happens prematurely), but it's something I had thought about and didn't have an answer too. I've never actually seen the MDX headlight up close before, so I wouldn't know.

Thanks MDX crew.

This is the right side headlight assembly for $622. Note that the 5 DRLs are separate LEDs from the main beams. The low beams are the outer 3 LEDs, and the high beams are the inner 2 LEDs.

If they were designed right, LEDs should be MUCH more reliable than HIDs.

I actually went to that exact same site and looked up the prices as soon as I typed that post. I expect the LEDs to be much more reliable than HIDs, and HIDs last quite a few years.

Spotted an MDX earlier this evening. 2 way road and we were headed in opposite directions. TLtrigirl definitely said I'd see one in due time. It was WDP and I actually got to see the jewel eyes in action (on-coming) Holy hell they're beautiful.

Checked out a Fathom Blue Pearl MDX/tech/2wd with Graystone a few days ago. We were pretty committed to looking for a used 2011/2012 MDX Advance because of the extra tech, sh-awd, and cheaper price.

The wife just fell in-love with the 2014 MDX:

- Love the graystone interior
- updated steering wheel look
- updated navi
- clean dash, touch screens replacing all the buttons.
- headlights
- smaller size for parking
- big improvement in mpgs (we put +20,000 miles per year)
- and how passenger friendly the second/third row seats are compared to the 07/13 MDX.

We still have until spring or summer of 2014 until we need to purchase. It would be nice if Acura made the cooled seats a dealer installed option.
