2014+ MDX Custom Front Grill: Interest?

Hello, I am trying to organize a list of potential people who are interested in a custom aftermarket front grill.

I am contacting sources to manufacture one for us, a design TBD. I know it's hard to "commit" to something that isn't yet made, but IMO anything is better than the factory grill.

Definitely need to get an idea of how many people would be interested.

Thanks!

If you're not interested, don't reply.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the radar is mounted behind the grill (right behind the Acura emblem). So it may not be possible to modify the grill without affecting the related safety functions.

The radar is behind the grill, but I don't think it's behind the emblem. It's odd, I think every other car company's radar is integral to the grill itself, not behind it.
To answer the question, I am definitely interested in something more appealing than the factory grill.

Some 'carbon-look' vinyl on the beak goes a long way towards making it look better. IMO, anyway.

If it doesn't cheapen the look of the MDX, I'll be interested. I paid $50k for this and I'm not looking to slap on mesh grilles.

In my opinion the stock grille looks fine so I'm curious to see what other design others might have.

A lot of options out there to copy. I like the Highlander black grill (without the monster "Everyday" emblem and bar.)

What were they thinking? "Let's copy Acura"?

Or Chrome it...............

Or Go all Honeycomb.......................

Or maybe just some rims and grafix...............

Was this a do it yourself project?

Thanks! It turned out really nice, if I do say so myself.

Yep, and took less than an hour. If I were to do it again I'd do it in two pieces, since I ended up having to cut it right above the Acura emblem and put a splice there anyway.

The vinyl I used is relatively stretchy, and the adhesive is said to have micro-grooves in it to let air out, so you don't tend to trap air under it and get bubbles.

I used the same material on the shiny trim around the lower screen and console edges to stop it from blinding me when the sun hits it.

Where did you find the material?

Ebay! Search for" Black 3D Dry Carbon Fiber Vinyl Sheet Film Bubble Free Air Release" and you should find it. Pretty inexpensive too. Mine came from seller 'ionicparts'

RonJon Sport Design did a custom grille for the 9-11 TL, along with aero kits for Accords, CL and 04-11 TLs. They might be a good resource to check into doing a redesign of the +14 MDX grille? They are outstanding to work with and put out very high quality products. I have RonJon rims on my RDX and MDX. I bet they would even entertain the possibility of rear lip kit for dual exhaust if there is enough interest.

$15 and 10 minutes of your time will render them satin black and non-glaring.

I heard of this stuff called "aerospace 303" it is supposed to be an interior protecting spray that dries to a matte finish. You could try spraying that stuff on it.

Would consider the grill from the 2016 RDX, looks like a samurai sword.

Hey there,

Is that a DIY job or did someone else do that for you?

Please provide info if possible.

Thanks
