Our 2014 SH-AWD Tech recently started making a strange noise, kind of a chucka chucka rhythmic sound not at all normal. I recorded it with my phone, brought it in for servicing, and the wonderful lead tech who knows our cars and services them personally listened to the recording, asked where I thought the sound came from (since of course it wasn't making it when I brought it in), and said, they've had a fair number of problems with the oil pump.

So, new oil pump, covered under warranty.

 

Wow - that's quick for the model year, being a '14 shawd/tech owner myself:

how many miles were you at?
what's your usual drive (highway/stop&go/offroad?)
Can you post the recording (or PM?) - I'd like to keep my ears peeled...

glad it was covered! I hope they removed the pan and drained/cleaned it to ensure no pump pieces/particles were left behind.

Yah, I have a 2014 with 74k miles, so I should keep an ear out for this one. What did it sound like?

 

Unfortunately I deleted it from my phone. Basically, instead of the regular ticking sound of the engine, there was a regular chukka chukka chukka sound. The tech lead knew right away what it was.

We have about 27K miles on it, it is leased so we have been keeping the mileage down, and I would say its mileage is 75% highway.
