10K first service

Hi, my Sports Hybrid will soon be due for the 10K service.
When I went online to book an appointment, I saw that they offer a myriad of services:
Maintenance A1 $90
2 wipers: $25
HVAC filter :$140(!)
Engine coolant: $160
Diff fluid: $135
wheel alignment: $115
brake fluid: $150

and quite a few more.

Other than the A1 service oil change, is there really anything that should be done?
The car works like a charm and I have nothing to report to the service dept.

Read the ownera manuel and do what it suggests. A1 should include oil and filter, tire rotation, plus inspection. Cabin and air filters can be had at any parts store for around 25 dollars and take maybe 10 minutes to change. Easy DIY project.

I did my 10K service when I was out of town in San Antonio last fall. It was just the A1 service with oil change. I did a tire rotation/balance at Discount tire with my lifetime road hazard warranty around the same time. The only issues I had was the Acura tech put too much oil in the engine at around 6.5 qt instead of 4.5 qt (the 3.5L MDX takes 6.5 qt). Just had a feeling I needed to check the oil after the service and I'm glad I did. It took two more trips back to get the oil exactly right. On the last trip back, I purchased 4 individual quarts of oil and told them just put that in and I would top it off.

The only extra thing I did on the list above was the alignment. About half of my adjustment points were in the yellow or red before the alignment was done at Firestone. The MDX rode soooo much better at hwy speeds after the alignment. I have lifetime alignment with Firestone and probably take the MDX back when I get new tires, suspension work, or every 20k or so.

I just recently changed out the cabin air filter with Bosch 6029C HEPA cabin filter, Amazon, $21. Pretty much a 5-8 minute job depending on how much junk is in your glove box.

2 wipers: $25: 3 wipers total, 18-24 months before I change out (only 5-9 inches of rain/snow per year)
HVAC filter :$140(!) : Bosch 6029C every year before allergy season
Engine coolant: $160: 100,000 miles or 7 years minimum. the hybrid has two cooling systems for the engine and DC inverter that take the same fluids.
Diff fluid: $135: Hybrid takes different diff fluid; but, the same as the 7DCT. Not until around the 30,000 miles mark or whenever it pops up on the M.I.D.
wheel alignment: $115: lifetime with Firestone
brake fluid: $150: 3 years minimum (2 more years to go)

The only additional service for my 2017 Hybrid was the rear Twin Motor Unit at 15,000 miles. Other wise it's just been oil+filter+rotate. The cabin and engine air filters were DIY also at 15,000 mile. They are very easy to do. Just look on youtube.com.

sounds like this is a dealer to avoid. Engine coolant is like 5 years+ and around 100K miles. brake fluid, every two years by my advice, wheel alignment? well years ago cars needed this quite often. My recent experience 97 Mercedes e420 at 180K miles never aligned, tires wearing evenly. Mercedes SL500 97K miles, same, 2004 Duramax diesel pickup 230K miles, yet to be aligned and still even wear. 95 S10 pickup, 250K miles no alignment, even tire wear, 2015 denali pickup 55K miles not yet aligned, even tire wear. 87 chevy van 190K miles no alignment even tire wear. And I could go on, but I think you can get the picture.

HVAC filter is a 10 minute DIY job outlined in the owners manual. maybe $10 for the filter.
Wiper blades. OEM blades not installed I paid $18 for all three blades, takes maybe 15 minutes to install

Diff fluid under severe service is at 15K miles, otherwise 30K I think. ( well, it really isn't a conventional differential, but TMU twin motor unit, but it looks and acts like a differential, and is filled with Honda DW-1 fluid) If you have a way to lift the car evenly off the ground it's $32 for the fluid to do the job yourself. and it is on a scale of 1-10 for difficulty a 1. remove drain plug, drain fluid install drain plug remove fill plug. fill till fluid drips out. install drain plug.
DCT transmission fluid is a 3 on a scale of 10. same fluid cost. remove drain plug. drain fluid. install drain plug. remove fill plug. fill till it drips. install fill plug. go into maint mode on car through the MID, run car for 60 seconds. remove fill plug. add fluid till it drips out. install fill plug.

For both the transmission and diff fill it is important you keep the car level. that means you must have a way to raise the front and back equally, or squeeze under the car on level ground.

the bosh hepa filters are nice. I've used them in my denali pickup and mercedes and now the MDX. well
TMU (diff) and DCT take the inexpensive DW-1 fluid that's around $8/qt. TMU takes less than 3 qts, transmission less than 4 qts.
First diff fluid change is recomended at around 10-15K miles under severe service , then IIRC every 30K? manual has the recomended interval for the hybrid

out here with the rain we get, I figure 6 months on wiper blades. but then the inserts are inexpensive. I order like 4 sets online at once.

10k service is oil change and self inspection of vehicle. Spend no more money on anything else IMO. I'm currently at 44k with my 2018 Hybrid. Trans and diff fluid done @ 42k, diff fluid was super clean and could of gone till 60k. Wipers done @ 40k, cabin filter @ 25k and replaced air filter with k/n @ 20k. Do it all yourself and save $$$$

recomended diff fluid change interval and transmission change interval is highly dependent on driving conditions. City driving and/or mountain driving recomended change interval for the transmission is 30K miles initally then every 25K, TMU (diff) fluid change under these conditions is recomended at 7500 then every 15K. From what is described in the owners manual, it sounds like the MID display doesn't account for driving condtions as to when the change interval is required and just goes by the assumption that you ARE NOT driving under those conditions.
