got my new phone
Treo 650... love it so far. I have been on AT&T/Cingular for 8 years... and that was always some kind of thing with me, I felt like I should stay with them - but after trying my friend's Treo 650 over the weekend, I realized I could be doing much more with my free time, and be in much better contact with everyone I know via all modes of communication... got this phone yesterday, with Sprint... I have never been able to get or make calls in the office, I now can. Hell I was surfing halfway up the elevator. Thing is sweet - it's big, but when you realize its a full-function PDA, it ain't so bad. The keyboard is killer. It has a class-leading 320x320 display. 5 hour talk time, one of the longest. Having the stylus and touchscreen available as well is just like a bonus, its like having a mouse.
I have 14 days to try it out - at this rate I think I will be keeping it, most likely... I'm just too impressed by it - ease of use, quick transfer times, $15 a month for unlimited internet on the phone, that blows away the plans offered by other carriers... quick access too, runs at something like 128k or something.
Also considered the HP IPAQ 6315, but I was turned off by the detachable keyboard and its dimensions - its thinner, but wider. The Treo is more comfortable to hold and talk into.

I have the same phone (treo 650). I love it so far, had it for 6 weeks or so. It has a few minor bugs here and there. but it's awesome.
Dunno if you do the divx thing, if you go. Go out and buy a big SD card, and get this player. (DON'T use the palm installer to put movies on the phone, it does a crappy job of converting the movies, and the feee media player the phone comes with sucks) The player i mention below plays at a full 25FPS fullscreen on the treo 650, it rocks!
Movie Player:
www.mmplayer.com
This app is free and it'll shink your divx movies down. (I can fit 5 full length movies on my 1GB sd card)
Pocket DIvx Enocoder:
http://divx.ppccool.com/
Also this is a handy app, it makes your SD card on your plam show up as a drive in windows when you have the USB cable connected. Makes copying things to the palm SD card easy!
Card Export:
http://www.softick.com/cardexport2/
There is also an app called pocketDVD to auto rip/convert your DVD's into a pocket divx format. pretty slick.
Enjoy

My friend got one as soon as they could be ordered. I think its awesome.
He a 1gig sd card and has been playing with putting music and movies on it.
Also got a blue tooth program to work with his mac...so now he can control his entire computer via 650....we use it as a itunes remote...which is awesome cause its diplays whats playing, whats next, album cover, etc..
They really hit gold with this phone and the programs people are making for it. It could always be better, but if i had the cash I'd buy one.

Nice, srika!
I hope the 650 is better than the 600 as that gave the users in my office nothing but grief for some reason. Personally, I tried the Treo and prefered the Sony-Ericsson P900 better...
At the moment, I'm stoked for the Motorola Mpx300...

Ah pocket pc phone, I love these. I don't think I can go back to using a normal phone ever again. I used to own a Siemen Sx56 (rebranded o2 XDA) and have currently upgraded to the o2 xda IIs. Man i love this phone. It is beautiful and has come a long way since the o2 XDA. I hope they will have built in gps in upcoming editions. Here is a review of the o2 XDA IIs (don't forget to look at the images):

damnit.... I am in such a predicament. If I keep Sprint, I will have to pay $150-200 to break my Cingular contract, which ends in May 2006. I CAN wait until the Cingular one comes out, and then save myself the cancellation fee - BUT - are they going to have a $20 unlimited data plan? Is the phone going to have as good reception and network performance as the Sprint one does? Are the data transfer rates going to be similar? These are the questions that have me pulling my hair out....

everyone I know who has a Sony-Ericsson phone complains about it... they say they lock up all the time, menus are slow, etc. hell I had the displeasure of carrying one around for a couple of months recently. It was a POS. I would be ecstatic if I could even make one damn phone call with it and not have it drop the signal. most of the time, it didn't even have a signal, and couldn't find any networks, even with manual searching. discuss.

ps. I have had the 650 for a week and a half so far - it has restarted the OS once on me. Other than that, it has been cell phone/PDA bliss for me.... no issues. I know these kinds of devices have a lot going on in them and are almost prone to having problems - but there is a reasonable number of lockups/problems, and then, there is Sony Ericsson. That damn POS was locking up and required turning off/on at least 3 times a day. That, is unreasonable and unecessary...

Ah.... T28 or T39. The T39 is a very cool phone and very durable...the T28 on the other hand, yeah well, they have improved a lot since I have used a SE P910 and Nokia 6630 over the past 2 months. I like them both.
