Wheels Help/Suggestions/Opinions

Hey guys, this mod is still quite far away for me but I just wanted to get your opinions on these rims. I'm into the JDM/flush sorta looks so I was thinking of some of these rims.

If someone could post them up for me, that'd be great.. AND COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO POST THEM?

Volks CE28:

ADVAN Racing RS-D:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...matblack1.jpg/

My Euro is white, I have a black 3M wrapped roof. I'm going for the black and white look so my rims will most probably be black unless I change my mind later on. I am opened to your suggestions as well. I'm also lowering my car on BC coils within the next few months hopefully!

I'll post a picture of my car if you guys really want me to when I get home from work.

Thanks.

sup man, man good choice of wheels. those are my 2 favorite, the volks ce28n are aweosme. as for advans, i'd go with the rs or the rz, but if u like the rs-d, one of my friends have it on their white g37 and it looks awesome!

what i am trying to say is...either way its gonna look great. if i have to pick one tho, i might go with advan over volks, just because it seems like advans are less "common"

Yeah, I have heaps of other options in my folder at home.. I can't really remember them all off the top of my head as I'm at work atm. They're nice but they are not cheap... I wouldn't mind getting a set of second hand ones but I don't even know where to start looking!

I like the RZ's as well but Chivik has them and thought if I posted it, might get some negative comments hahah. I also like the Advan RS', doesn't necessarily be RS-D. I just didn't want to put too many similiar options up there.

Thanks for your input Ed! Is it possible if you could get some pics of your friends car with the RS-D?

LOL! When I first saw the TSX, I was like o-o that's not RS-D's are they?... Damn, I like his taste in mods! Do you know what he did to the hood? Just painted it in gloss black? I'm too scared to make anything else black on my car cause it might be too much of a mix up (3M wrap roof) which means I'd have to go gloss black/matte black on whatever else I want. I don't want to use too much 3M, I don't like it.

His g37 looks so nice... Thanks for the pics!

Ohhh, I was going to ask if it was carbon fibre but didn't bother hahah. I want a carbon fibre hood ): Do you guys reckon a 3M wrapped roof + a carbon fibre hood would look weird? The colour difference and what not? Cheers for another photo Ed!

If I can go for a flush look, I will. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind just a nice set of rims. And yeah, I'm going for 19's.

haha that combo is fine, but good luck finding a carbon hood for the cu2 lol. i say since u have 3m wrapped roof, if you really want carbon hood, get a real one. dont vinyl wrap it, cuz that'd be too much IMO, and kinda fake as well. i seen a old bimmer with cf vinyl on hood and theres a tear in the middle, so u can tell right away that its not real cf lol

Hahah definitely! With carbon fibre stuff, do we have to get it custom made? That's gonna cost a fortune I'd imagine.. And yeah! That's why I said I'd have to paint anything else I plan on doing black because I don't wanna wrap too much.. I don't like the look of a lot of 3M wrap. To be honest, I didn't even want to wrap my roof but it was cheaper than painting.. Sorta wished I painted it instead though ):

Hahah! I'll take some photos when I have the time and when it stops raining down here. Haven't washed my car for about 2 weeks now due to nonstop rain/crap weather.

they used a ridiculous tire size.. not sure why.. but the total diameter of their wheel+tire is 1" smaller than the stock 17's.

(inch a half smaller in diameter than the stock 18's).

actually after speaking to acura I feel satisfied. I did not realize that if you order 18's on a 4cylinder they use 225/45/18's instead of the 235/45/18. The ecu on the 6 cylinder is set for the 235/45/18's diameter. the ecu for the 4 cylinder is set for the 225/40/17's diameter. So the larger size tires are meant for the 6 cylinder b/c of need for extra grip and ability to spin a larger overall wheels easier.

I am now happy! Finally my question is answered.

i did not realize that width affected the ecu as well, i assumed the diameter was the biggest thing.

so with 18 wheels its best to go 225? what width is that...7.5 or 8?

actually I should correct my wording. There is a gear that turns in the transmission area. an electronic device sends a signal to the ecu stating how many times that gear has turned to update odometer readings. So actually that gear in the transmission is what's different.

The most equivalent tire is a 225/45/18.

here is a chart that better explains.. assuming your a 4cyl w/ the oem 225/50/17

HTML Code:
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/50-17 4.4in 12.9in 25.9in 81.2in 780 0.0%
225/45-18 4.0in 13.0in 26.0in 81.6in 777 0.4%
235/45-18 4.2in 13.2in 26.3in 82.7in 766 1.8%
225/40-19 3.5in 13.0in 26.1in 82.0in 773 0.9%
245/35-19 3.4in 12.9in 25.8in 80.9in 783 -0.4%
so if you're riding on a 235/45/18 (4 Cyl) and your speedometer shoes you doing 60mph. You're actually doing 61.1mph.

you obviously want the one closest to your tire size unless you have a different goal. For example I was pushing maybe 30lbs more tq I would opt for a overall larger wheel/tire (like the 235/45/18). Off the course the more sidewall you gain the more cushion you get on your ride. So it's obviously a matter of preference. If you want to keep your odometer accurate then you'd stay as close as possible to the stock diameter.

the width makes really no difference.. (7.5 or 8). That just depends on what tire size you plan on running. more width does equal slightly more weight though.. any weight directly connected to the transmission has more effect that dead weight inside the car. If you plan on doing a 225 Width than the 7.5 probably fits best. but if you plan on flipping to a 235 or even a 245 you're probably best w/ at least a 8" width. It's all a matter of how the tire fits the rims. For example a 225 on a 7.5 will actually protrude just enough to protect the rim a tiny tiny bit.

thanks djplayer, ive been learning about wheels and that cleared up ALOT for me. 225/45/18 seems to be the smart choice for performance and comfort though youll lose out on the more aggressive 235/245 look

I'm.. still trying to soak that in. Too noob for this. But if I were to go for like, 265 or something around there, and I wanted the width to be 9.5/10-ish, is that ok? Simple terms please hahah.

don't quote me on this.. b/c I'm sure someone has pushed the max.. but if you put on a 265 you're wheel probably isn't going to turn all the way without hitting the fender. Of course that all depends on the offset and ride height.

use this as a reference guide (merely a reference b/c it will only give you min-max, not optimal).

http://customwheelsmarket.com/rimwheelwidth1.html

So 8.5-10 for a 265 width. optimal probably probably being on a x9 width for the best fit. But honestly.. we don't drive RWD sports car that need a size that wide in the back. I don't even think it would fit anyways.. but someone else would have to verify that..
