Need help - TL-S rims or 17" HFP?

Hey guys,

I need some opinions and possibly some photoshop works

Wanna rid the stock wheels on my 09 PMM, and I'm down to either of these rims for the upgrade ...

Either the 17" TL-S rims

TL-S rims

Or the 17" HFP rims

HFP rims

The 17" HFP rims are 'carbon bronze' in color, which I think will look quite nice on a PMM tsx. The TL-S rims I believe is just gun metal?

What do you guys think?

with the HFP wheels; you would be going backwards as the width is only 7 inches.

your stock tsx wheels are 17x7.5 +55
you need to match these specs or go more aggressive.
the TL-S wheel is 17x8 +45

Good point, thanks a lot for bringing that up! I assumed the 17" HFP are 7.5J but they are 7 only. I have a set of 235 which I try to put on so they won't even fit on the HFP rims.

Sounds like the TL-S rims it will be then!

What do you guys think though? Will gun metal TL-S rims look good on a PMM TSX? Any member running that combo?

Why not the 18" A spec wheels? Or HFP has the 19s too...

The 19" HFP is my ideal rims but they are SO expensive ... and then the 19" tires are also expensive. Plus, having driven 19" before, I really don't think the K24 is ideal for 19" tires. Unsprung weight begins to upset the advantage that may be brought on with wider rubber and more contact to the road with the not-exactly-torquey K24 engine.

With 19" kinda out of consideration, I was down to 17" or 18" ... but I have 3 sets of little used 17" tires sitting in my garage - the 17" Michelin Pilot that comes with my TSX that still has 90% left, Hankook Ventus V12 from my last car (A3) that still has 60% life left, and my winter tires.

I won't get much $$ selling those 3 sets of tires used, meanwhile getting a set of 18" summer + a set of winter will cost me an arm and a leg ... so I'm going with 17", and keeping my stock rims for winter.

at 23-24lbs (stock TL rims) you will feel the heft!
minus whale, go custom wheels.

if you do a light weight 17x8-8.5, you'll still be able to use your sets of tires while still looking great!

Fair point, that is definitely something I'll consider.

I wonder what color of rims would look good on a PMM car though.

part of me thinks gun metal looks good on PMM, but then part of me also thinks gun metal looking so close to PMM in color might not stand out ... any pic of gun metal vs other color rims on PMM TSX?
