Looking to purchase new rims
This would be my first time purchasing new rims for any car (always ran the stockers on all my cars). The current SE rims are nice, but I love the TL Type S honeycomb wheels (as well as the other type S rims). I hope that I am not being too much of a "wannabe" with these wheels. I am having a hard time finding them for sale locally, but I was able to find them on eBay. There are two types of listings, reconditioned ones, and clones. I really would prefer to stick to the reconditioned/used OEM wheels vs China clones. Here are some listings:
17" Acura TL 2007 2008 Factory OEM Rim Wheel 71763 Standard Charcoal eBay - $189 (only 3 in stock) reconditioned
New 17" x 8" Alloy Replacement Wheel for Acura TL Type S 2007 2008 Rim 71763 eBay - $110 clones
71763 Factory Reconditioned wheel 17in 2007-2008 Acura TL Charcoal Painted eBay - $169 reconditioned
I will be buying new tires soon near the end of the summer. I don't really know how much these rims go for, but they seem to be able to be had for under $200 a pop, and im sure they will hold their value. Does anyone have any recommendations/thoughts about using these rims?

A lot of people over in 3GTL land have bought waffle reps on ebay with no issues.
Also these are the only Type S rims, you may be thinking about A Specs perhaps?

Why not save more monies on wheels you really want?

That is true, 17" is actually pretty small on this car. Since I am planning on getting new tires, I'm going to add this option to my list., I looked at them while at lunch and pictured the Type S rims bigger in my head for some reason. Maybe the tall sidewall is contributing to this.
As far a spending a lot of cash on a set of rims, or even $800-1K, I am just too indecisive! I know that I probably will get bored with fear not liking the rims I purchase. I really like Vossens, especially the 5 spoke, but they cost an arm and a leg. Here is an example (not so deep of course)- VWS-3 - Vossen Wheels -
With the two sets of wheels i'd go with an aggressive summer tire, and keep a set of all season/winter tires on the stockers.

I've always like the look of the V6 OEM wheels and with the price along with tires, I rather save a little more for the wheels I really want. Save a little more and don't rush things, thats my moto.

Based on the specs of the TL wheel, I will need to get new tires for them. I was planning on doing that anyway, but after wheels, tires, and installation i'll be close to 1k. I briefly assumed that my current tires could be transferred over. Tires sizing and breaking the rules of tire/rim matching is really confusing to me :/

Still thinking about these wheels. Going to throw some summer tires on them. Probably Nitto NT555.
Wheel gap is annoying, but I dont think I am ready to drop the car just yet. Since I am sticking with 17" wheels, would I be able to run 245/45? What tire size would be ideal for this setup? I'd love to have an aggressive looking stance and have the summer tires stick out a bit. Hopefully elimniate a bit of wheel gap at the same time, but the stock 50 side wall has a big presence.
Here is a rough idea for pricing:
Wheels - $450
OEM Centercaps - $100
Tires - $600
Used TPMS sensors - $70
Alignment afterwards - $70
TOTAL - ~$1300

245/45/17 is slightly shorter than the stock size. So you should be able to use them without messing up the speedometer too much.
They need about a 8.5 or 9" wide wheel to exploit their width, though. Wheels with a 8.5" width and about a 35mm offset and 245mm tyres are the absolute limit to what the car's fenders can handle with the stock camber curve.
TL-S waffles are 17x8+45. So..yeah. They'll fit. 245's will look a little "stuffed". And the offset/sizing will look a little weak.
I think you're wasting $1300...which is actually more frivolous than waiting a bit...and spending more money on something more worthwhile.
I suggest buying 18's. 17's look small....and theres a bit too much sidewall for real confidence.
18x8.5 +35. With a 245/40/18 is what I'd suggest.
Plan to spend $1000-1300+ on wheels unless you buy them used.
Edit: Nevermind. We went thru this. You're still thinking of buying wheels for $450.

The NT555 is a bit outdated. The max performance tyre category has tons of great new options. The Continental EC Sport, or Michelin Pilot Super Sport, for example. Or the Firestone Firehawk 500. Or Bridgestone S04.

Yes, 17" does look small and the car really takes well to bigger rims. I have been browsing larger wheels. The problem I have is that the car is going to be sitting outside 99% and I don't want to have to worry about some hoodrat trying to gank them. I'm trying to find some middle ground but the main reason I havent pulled the trigger is because they are 17", but I have always had a thing for these wheels.
I'm going to look into 18x8.5 +35. With a 245/40/18. Would this keep the tires flush with the sides of the car, or would it stick the tire out the littlest bit (I like that). For sake of conversation, is it worth it to consider 19"?
Do you have any brand recommendations? My buddy really likes XXR wheels.

18X8.5 +35 sits thusly:
By the time the tyre reaches the fender on a bump, it is JUST shy of snagging something.
Any more agressive, and you'll increase the chances of catching the fender on a big bump.
And I do not mean to sound condescending...I'm being genuine here....I did not know XXR's had a fan base. They are a cheaper version of Rotas or other knockoff wheels. That being said...they weigh a TON...but they're probably OK in terms of quality.
If you want inexpensive wheels whose quality is still high, I would look at VMR or Rota. Or Enkei will get you into some roll forged wheels for like $200-300/ea for 18's...which is ridiculously cheap.

That looks great. Perfect side wall size, this is what I am looking for. By chance is the vehicle in your photos lowered at all, or is this the stock suspension? You made it clear, but just to confirm I can expect a 100% DD ready ride with this setup correct?
I suppose my buddy liked XXR because of their low cost. I'm going to be raising my budget now because I plan on keeping these wheels/tires for years to come. May as well do it right the first time.

My car is lowered about 1/2 to 3/4" from stock. The photo showing the wheel/tyre interface was taken with the opposite corner jacked up so that the suspension would compress.
Yes, 18x8.5 +35 will work at stock height without any other change necessary.
Obviously, you'll want to be more careful in the rare situation when the front wheel is at full turning lock and the suspension is being compressed a bunch (like pulling into an extremely steep driveway sideways).
This wheel width/offset allows for 225mm thru 245mm tyres to be used.
This is with a 225mm tyre that runs a bit wide:
