DIY Lowering Spring Difficulty

Hey guys

Trying to get a bunch of parts in before I head to my parents' place for a week so my dad can help me with some installations and also I can use their massive massive garage

Like I've said in other thread I'm pretty new to doing all this... On tap for the week is the RV6 PCD... but I want to lower my car as well. I read the DIY for doing it that is in the How-To section, and watched other youtube videos on the subject but on other cars just to get the general feel for what is involved. But the pictures in the how-to are kind of ambiguous, and I can't find a thread that outlines really how to do it.

My dad's family used to own a gas station/mechanic shop, and he has done practically ALL our car work we ever needed when I was young so I'm really trying to make the most of this week I'm spending with them. But I don't think he's ever done suspension work. Essentially you raise the car and release the guts of the suspension, take out spring, put in new spring, put everything back. Cool. I'll probably rent a spring compressor for the job if I decide to tackle it. But like I said... suspension work? Seems daunting.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice, should I try to tack on this project along with everything else or just get a shop to do it and how much that would cost.

Much appreciated.

You can do it with your dads help I'm sure of it. You don't really mess with any of the bolts that affect camber or toe however you will want to get it aligned by a shop that does it regularly so they can properly adjust. I did mine solo several times on my 2010 TSX so think if you have someone there to help you'll be all good. The first car I lowered was a 98 Infiniti Q45. I did that project with my dad. Good memories right there.

Not sure if you are considering this or not but I usually only get about 14,000 to 15,000 miles out of a set of tires with my set up. Tein S-Techs. Rear camber kit should help with tire longevity but I'm not sure myself. Hoping someone else can chime in with real life results.

Here is my DIY before changing my username.
