Are all rims created equal!

I have been looking into wheels for my car. I have come across hundreds of wheel manuf. Ron Jon for one has one rim I like, so does Tenzo, so does TSW, and so on. My question is are all these wheels in the 200-300 per wheel price manufactured the same. Is one really better than the other?

Weight and strength of material is worth considering. Forging process will result in stronger material than casting, so less material can be used to have wheels be lighter and have same strength. Of course, quality of finish will come into play, too.

TSW wheels are looking good to me.

I know forged is going to be the best choice, but comes at a price. I have a budget of $1-1200, so that equals to 300 per wheels without tires. I know TSW has been around for a long time so I will look more into them.

Well I just found some TSW that use a rotary forge process. They only have 2 rims avaiable made this way for the tsx. They weigh around 18-19.

No, all rims are not equal. You are often paying a premium for a name which may, or may not, translate into better quality.

You may want to consider the classifieds where you might be able to get a decent quality wheel in your price range,

if youre just daily driving and not tracking or racing, i wouldnt worry too much about weight or them being forged.
a cast wheel will do just as good if all youre doing is driving your car to work.

if you were tracking the car, then yes, def pay more to get the lighter, stronger wheel but i dont think most tsx owners fall in to that catagory.

wheel failure for the cheaper brands usually occur at races or track events. ive yet to hear of someones wheel shattering just driving down the road.

idk. to me, looks were the most important factor.
i dont track or race my car in any way.
Looks + value = happiness for me.

Weight will play a role on the street too, lighter wheel will save you gas, will help you accelerate faster and will provide better ride. But, it is a compromise between looks and performance.

Another thing to consider is how easy it would be to replace a wheel if you damaged it.
