Meant to ask: how does the car ride/handle with 9.5" in the front?

I had been looking for these wheels for well over a year and by a chance encounter found some dude who was selling a brand new set, in almost the exact specs I wanted so I copped them from him. Let me know what you think!

Specs:
- VMR V710 5x114 18x9.5 +50 Gunmetal
- 5mm Front / 20mm Rear - Ichiba
- Rear is rolled
- Dropped on Megan EZ
- Wrapped in Falken ZIEX ZE912 All Season 235/40/18

And, adding to the above question, how is it as far as tight turns?

I'm going back on forth on whether or not I want to order the Niche Targa in 18x9.5+40 and have to deal with potential rubbing while pulling out of parking lots and such. Your pics make me think they're going to fit with a roll in the rear, but an extra 5mm in the front is causing me to wonder if it'll be livable as a DD.

Turns/handles fine; I had the same wheels but in +45. The downside is that the wheels are pretty heavy, and 9.5" wide wheels definitely don't help in that department. This makes the TSX even slower off the line.

Another question:

The spacers you're running in the rear; how did the studs come out of the hub? Can you just hammer them out and put the new ones in, or does the hub have to come off?

I assume OP used adapter-style spacers; I did. You don't need to replace the studs with extended ones. However, some people will argue it's not a very safe approach. As long as you torque them down to the correct specs, you should be fine.

Your question specifically though, I'm not 100% sure either. IIRC, I think you have to take the hub off because of some plate in the back blocking the way or something.

I only want to do 10mm spacers, I think. So I'm not sure that the adapter style is an option.

And I know sometimes the plate blocks the studs in the rear, but some have a cut-out. Unfortunately, the forums aren't providing me with a conclusive answer there. I might just have to pull it apart and look, buuuuut #lazy...

Oh 10mm. Yes you'll have to do extended studs. The adapter style won't be sufficient as the stock studs will stick out too far and hit the back of the wheel (even if the wheel has grooves like the OEM ones, I'm pretty sure that groove isn't deep enough).

Honestly I thought long and hard about doing extended studs, but since it's my daily I said forget it. I run my stock wheels for winter and a set of Works for all other seasons. That means if I run extended studs, I'd either have to run open-ended lug nuts when spacer-less, or always have spacers on. Not really worth it in my opinion, but if you're set on it, I guess it's best to take your car to a shop for a quick (hopefully free) inspection of whether you can take the studs out without taking the whole hub out.

edit:
If the rears are anything like the 1G TSX, then apparently you don't need to take the hub off. Fronts yes, though.

Yeah, I keep seeing mixed answers. This guy's video makes it seem straightforward:

I've got to lower the front of the car this weekend, so while I'm working on it, I'll measure the rear and decide on a spacer thickness. And then I'll pop off the wheel and see if I can spot the clearance behind the studs or not.
