18x8.5... preferred tire size?

Is 245/40 gonna be too meaty? running in tandem with s.techs on a +38 offset (18x8.5)

And will 235/40 leave too much well gap?

i think 235/40 is fine, looking at kowloon's set up and a few others, it seems to be the best

245/40/18 gets my vote. Why? Least variance from stock in terms of odo reading, best ride comfort, and best rim protection. I don't care for the stretched look, so it's okay to me if the 245s look beefy. 245s on an 8.5 wide will look fine though, so it's not like you've SUV tires on there. If I had to go with a thinner tire for whatever reason, 235/40 is as thin as I'd go.

FYI Tirerack has 235/40/18 Conti DWs on closeout right now, $130 each + shipping. I would get a set except.... they are not 245s....

do you guys think 235/35/18 will ride too harsh? Also I think it'll leave too much gap in wheel well. 35s are pretty thin..

Filling up wheel well gap by using an incorrect tire size is foolish. You should always keep the same (as close as possible) outside diameter to keep from running into warranty issues, speedometer problems and clearance issues.

I got 235/40/18 Conti DWs from tire rack and after 3-4 months, I'm very happy with them. Definitely feel a difference in turns, stops, and road noise.
